Altair would win because he is more professional. Well, as long as they don't fight near waterways at least.

Ezio... While Altair was the "original master assassin" fighting styles throughout history have constantly evolved.

"Why?" I hear you cry... well thats easy... to be better than the ones that came before.

Think about it, who would win, someone who came up with a load of cool fighting ideas, OR someone who learned all said fighting ideas AND came up with some new ones?
Right, so Altair.

I think the battle would go in Altair's favor at first, but then Ezio would push him into some water and win.

Well Ezio has a gun... and poison... and a crossbow... and dual hidden blades... and he can actually DEFEND himself with his hidden blades... and he came a few hundred years later, so his swords and armor would be of better quality soooooo... yeah, Ezio....
But in AC2 pretty much every awesome thing that Ezio had was found in the Codex, written by Altair. Hell, the best armor and weapon that could be found was Altair's thousand year old armor and sword. Everything Ezio uses is dependent on Altair's designs and Da Vinci's improvements: The double blade, the gun, the poison addition.

All Ezio has on top of Altair is a poison dart, a crossbow and the metal cestus used to jump higher. The last is only good for blocking, the former two take too much time to charge and would end with Ezio dead by the time he had aimed it right.

Altair, every time.

Altair by far, he was raised as an assasin from childhood and was the master assasin that took down an entire war ready legion to get his guy, and he killed him.

Ezio is still awesome, but he had a dad that tried to keep that stuff from him his entire life he was trained by the uncle after he was forced into that lifestyle. Still, it was in his blood after all so he picked it up and became good at it fast.

Ezio is skilled and deadly but he's just not in the same league as Altair,
I vote Altair

I voted Altair mainly because in his entire life he never got stabbed or attack (other than the Templar and his master) hence he didn't have a health bar. Where as Ezio needed to use health potions from time to time.

But from the storyline i believe that Ezio was stronger because Desmond went into the life of Ezio for the bleeding effect and take his skills and abilities. Even though Altair invented all the weapons from gun to poison tip blade he didn't master them like Ezio who had more time to use them.

What about Desmond? I admit he might get his arse handed to him but he still counts as an assassin. (although if anybody but Altair won it would cause a time paradox and wipe the other assassins from exsistence as mentioned before)

It's kind of irrelevant, because which ever one of them does win, after they've confirmed the kill they'll pull back their hood to reveal Agent 47, who murdered one of the assassins before the fight and took on his guise as a ploy to lure the other one out.

Then in the present day, as Desmond lays twitching in the Animus, a bald headed lab technician. who wirelessly hacked into the Animus program from an adjoining room, withdraws the syringe of lethal bacteria from Desmond's neck, sets a time-bomb on the side of the Animus and calmly makes his way out of the facility now disguised as a maintenance technician.

He truly is the Master of Disguise.

Dammit, I just came off those two pony threads in Off-Topic forums now I can't stop thinking about MLP
Well, you know what they say, when in Rome decide with ponies:
snip
Ezio wins
I can just imagine a really sad Leonardo off to the side after that pic, looking glumly at the ground.

Altair. Why? Simple grandfather paradox.

If they fight and Altair wins, that result requires no further thought.

However, if they fight and Ezio wins, then Ezio should cease to exist, since he has now killed his own ancestor and thus never would have been born in the first place.

So either way, the winner is Altair.

While this may be due to my not having played AC2 since about a week after it came out and my not having paid attention to anything but the dude that I was supposed to be stabbing through half of ACB, how do we even know Altair even came up with all the designs in the codex? It could've just as easily been made by other assassins that came later but it was all attributed to Altair since he was pretty much the only legendary one... just sayin', doesn't seem probable that one guy came up with all that... you know, with other pressing matters like the Apple of Eden to attend to...

Anyways back OT, there's still the matter that Ezio can actually DEFEND himself with his hidden blades, and the whole more advanced weapons and armor deal- sure Altair's armor is the best in AC2, but Ezio also gets the Armor of Romulus in ACB, which is pretty much the same as Altair's armor but much more badass-looking, so... yeah... still Ezio...

Perhaps the good people at Deadliest Warrior could be convinced to handle this matter?

Edit- I would argue further, but after reading this:

Who would win in a straight up fight of skill. Such as only using hidden blades or such. Of course Ezio wins if he gets a gun, but not including that who would win, say, a sword-fight or fisticuffs or another straight up match?
Ezio hands down.

He has two blades.

He has corrected jumping physics.

Also, Ezio isn't an ego maniac. Ezio knows that if he screws up, he's toast. Altair thinks he's immortal - he doesn't respect his own mortality.
