No it isn't nostalgia, i played it again after MW2 and i found it much more enjoyable. Except for the section in UO supposedly set in my home country.awes0mepenguin said:

I think the 1st one for me too. It was pretty shocking as far as games go, holding out that bridge with the brits, dodging MG rounds with no weapons but one burly Russian sniper and doing... .. whatever it was the yanks did in that game - was awesome and at the time there was nothing at all like it.
It was also, as far as memory serves, one of the first to put you in with a squad of men. Of course you had to do everything, same as ever, but you didnt mind switching between running for more Panzerfausts or manning the 88 cuz it was fun!
And theres wasn't any of that "We'll respawn until you get up to our positions" nonsense either, unless memory has rose tinted it slightly.

I actually like WaW. New twist on WW2 kept it fresh.

3 was fun, as was MW, same with 5 and the same with MW2.
Haven't played COD 1-2. So out of the ones I've played, 3 followed by MW2, then MW and CoD5 in that order.

Modern Warfare 2 isn't bad. Has some balancing issues, but its still very fun.

MW2 -COULD- be the best for multiplayer if they removed/fixed certain weapons/perks/killstreaks and added dedicated servers, oh and balanced the game for lean. At the moment it's just a mildly enjoyable arcade shooter with terribad balance and lag issues.

Screw you all. MW2. Classics are good and all, but MW2 is just so good.
Storyline is stronger in this one than the previous ones (and I love good storylines), but its still pretty weak compared to other games. Engaging either way. Better compared to the others "It's war, those are the bad guys. Heres your gun." Which is really all you can do with a war game thats not sci-fi and trying to be somewhat realistic with historical accuracy. Thats why I liked MW2 kinda of "ever-going-to-happen" storyline.
I don't care if gameplay doesn't change, I'll always love CoDs gameplay. And when you think about it, games these days don't really add much new to their series.
I still have a problem with the graphics. When you get up close to something, its blurry, and pixelated. Kinda like the shadows too. But from a distance everything is so fine.
The ONLY thing WaW got right was the Russian campaign and Nazi Zombies, which to me, was ten times better than Spec Ops. Spec Ops was still good, but short-ish. DLC is going to change that for sure.

I think the first MW is the best you see all these games have different pros and cons but i would even put world at war above mw2.

Modern warfare 2 only upto 18 players no user levels/mods then you get finding new host/lobby closed to be honest they ripped us off with the pc version.

I'd have to go for the first CoD as when i used to play it online back in the day there would be rifle only servers, which i think required more skill; no machine gun spraying and praying antics that you get in more recent titles.
3 because it was the last call of duty game before things got fucked and you play as a shower utensil
