Having bought my Xbox 360 at launch, there was always a risk that the exclusives would dry up in the face of its competition. Luckily, this isn't the case. There are more than enough games released for it to keep me going for a good few more years. Some are exclusive, some aren't.
However, had I gone for the PS3, I doubt I would have been dissappointed. Metal Gear 4 is a huge draw for to me, and will probably lead to me getting a PS3 come next generation (when they're cheap).
I'm envious of some of the stuff that's come out on Wii. Having owned a Gamecube (as well as an Xbox) lost generation, I got into some of the old kind of games I hadn't played since having a N64 in 2000. The new incarnations of Zelda, Mario and Metroid Prime are probably an equal if not greater pull than that of Metal Gear 5. House of the Dead Overkill and Madworld are also appealing. However, had I got a Wii at launch (which I nearly did), I can't help but think that those 5 games alone would not have lasted a generation, and I would have ended up letting it collect dust as I retreat again to Xbox 1 or PC.
