I think 360 has had the worst problems overall but the PS3 has had the worst single problem. Not sure if I explained that well, the 360 has had a lot of minor and not-so-minor annoyances but nothing on the level of threatening your credit card information, on the other hand the PS3 has been absolutely reliable until this and it looks like Sony are really putting up security with multiple outside firms.

The PS3 has the most recent issues, and launched with the highest price tag.
The 360 has the RRoD, the fewest worthwhile exclusives, and charges for their online.
The Wii has the lowest graphical capability, the worst online service, and is the source of the most forum bitching.

But, ya know what? I hate focusing on the negative.

The PS3 has a free online service on par with XBL.

The 360 has a bunch of games that, if you don't have a good PC, may as well be exclusive titles.

The Wii has a several great games from Nintendo and Capcom, (and Sega, Ubisoft, Konami...but not quite as many) as well as some niche titles that should have sold a lot better than they did. Overall, the best library of exclusives, and its virtual console provides easy access to the classics of old.

All three are great! I really wish the "hardcore" gaming community--and, while I'm at it, game entertainers, journalists, and critics--would be less negative.

The medium is improving in every area:
Games are becoming more accessible
It's getting easier and easier for independents to make a name for themselves
Some major companies are bringing older styles back into focus (thank you, Capcom!)
Others are making games bigger and more detailed than ever before
Classic games are available for download! (Nothing you're interested in coming out for a while? Go watch the Happy Video Game Nerd, then check out the Virtual Console for a game that looked interesting to you)

There's too many great games out there to be so negative all the time.

I'd have to say the Xbox's RRoD is worse than Sony's current issue. Nothing serious was stolen from Sony other than credit card numbers, but nobody is sure if they've actually been taken and the security numbers are definitely safe. 20 days of no online is better than having consoles become giant paperweights in my opinion.
I disagree completely, and I'm feeling lazy ATM so I'm just going to quote Jim Sterling instead.

http://www.gamefront.com/the-dumbest-arguments-surrounding-the-psn-downtime-controversy/
The Red Ring of Death is one of the stupidest fucking things to have ever happened in the history of videogames, and Microsoft should forever feel embarrassed for putting out such awful, awful hardware. The problem is, however, that the RRoD being a terrible situation does not somehow let Sony off the hook for shutting down the PlayStation Network, costing developers millions of dollars, and fucking over all its customers. As grievous as the Red Ring is, it hasn?t made people cancel their credit cards and worry about who has their personal information.
Also, I think you forget to factor in that PS3 has YLOD while, not quite as widespread as RROD, still happens to people. And I don't think you fully understand how bad identity theft can be. And you also don't seem to realize that MS has gotten there hardware under control in the past few years. 360s still fail, sure. So do PS3s, and Wiis, and PCs, and anything electronic. But 360 failures aren't as bad or as frequent as they used to be.

Bottom line: I'd much rather be without a 360 for a few weeks while going through MS's repair process than have to worry about my identity being stolen. I don't even care about the PSN being down part. It's identity theft VS a few weeks without a console, and identity theft is easily the worse of the two things to have to experience.

"Hello! I am here to slag off [Console A], because I am a [Console B] fanboy!!"

This is what this thread screams out to me...
Can't we all just love both the PS3 and Xbox 360? :D
Not really. They kinda force us to choose by putting certain games on certain consoles. So I choose PS3.

Or they just want us to buy both. In that case, they can both go to hell =D

haha, I have both :p
but I mostly use my PS3 for watching Blu-Ray films, but I have some sweet games for it as well :)

"...not quite as widespread..." It happens to literally less than once percent of people who own a PS3. This isn't a major design flaw like the RRoD, this is just one of the issues that all technology has.

Also, there hasn't been identity theft. All of a sudden, every case of identity theft is Sony's fault. There is no proof AT ALL that the credit card numbers have been stolen, and the security codes definitely weren't stolen. You know, the security codes you need to use the credit card?

xbox seems to have the most problems, crashing and overheating, and then the disk tray or the laser not working, mostly what i hear, bit i hear it all the goddamn time.

ps3 has had some issues, mostly bad firmwares off and on, and the os abilities being removed (dumbass move sony)

the wii has the problem of existing in the first place, shitty gimick controls that even after they were "enhanced" they still handled like shit, not recognising a controller on anything less than 1/2 full batteries, easy losing sync w/ the game or controller, and the fact my ipod nano has more cpu and gpu power than a wii does, but my ipod's never given me a single issue.

i'd still take a ps3, if it wasen't so gimped these days.

The PS3 obviously has the worst problems, because despite the RROD the 360 still has a huge market share. The worst of the RROD fiasco has passed with Microsoft still in an extremely favourable position, whereas the PS3 situation clearly has not. It remains to be seen whether Sony can ride out the hacking storm as well as Microsoft did.

Having used both pretty much equally, I cannot disagree more.

PS3 does not have player reviews so you can say "this guy is being a team killing douchebag, I don't want to play with him again.

PS3 does not have a report form in the console so you can report people who are obviously cheating in games, you have to go to their online form that's hidden in the bowels of the Playstation support pages (note: they do have a form you can use if someone sends you a bad message, but it only works if someone sends you a message and it's only for reporting the contents of the messages. you can't trick a cheater into sending you a message and then report them for cheating from three).

PS3 does not have cross game or party chat so you can talk with your friends regardless of what you are playing.

PS3 does not automatically sync your trophies. You have to do it manually, and then the system forces you to sit through the 30 second or more sync process at times when you don't need to sync because you have no new trophies. I say it forces you because if you cancel it, it won't let you do whatever it was you wanted to do.

Playstation Network is NOT on par with Xbox Live, it's missing too many features that should have been included at launch.

And no, my goal here isn't to be negative. Like I said, I use both. And I'd love Sony to step things up. But they don't, and PSN keeps jogging a mile or two behind Xbox Live. It's quite disappointing to the point where I can't get multiplatform games I plan to play online for PS3 anymore. Not after trying to play Red Dead Redemption online over PSN... No. The "avoid player" feature is the bare minimum that Sony needs to add before I'll even think about getting any multiplatform title with multiplayer for PS3 again.

...You do realize that the PS3 has a problem similar to the RROD, it just doesn't occur as much, right?

And the 360 slims don't red ring nearly as much as they used to.
YLOD is an overheating problem easily prevented with semi-frequent maintenance and proper storage i.e. not next to a radiator other electrical devices that heat up, clean the fans, keep in a ventilated area. Xbox is a hardware fault.

Accurate and recent source on YLOD rates or go away with that argument, please.

And of course there hasn't been identity theft... YET. The people who did this aren't stupid enough to start doing that while so many government agencies are looking for them.

Finally, you don't need the security codes to use the credit cards. I don't know what in the hell makes you think you do, but you don't. There are plenty of places online where you can buy stuff without the site even asking for the code.

Xbox 360: Early models had a high failure rate (RRoD) and were loud as hell

PS3: Poor video game support at launch and the recent PSN hack

Wii: Poor 3rd party developer support as always, poor online service, 1st Party games too far and few in between

Only problems for each console I can think of right now.

I got RRoD once, was not that big of a deal. But getting my credit card stolen, that would suck.

Eh I don't know. All of consoles have problems. Sony is bad at making promise's and they got hacked recently, Microsoft are obsessed with getting more and more money, Nintendo as a whole is gimmicky and to be a hardcore Pc gamer you need money for a good gaming computer. I mean sure you can play on any console but they all have problems.

the wii has to be the worst then, it only offers motion controls
And all those games that aren't motion controlled, they must be figments of everyones imagination...right?

mostly more child or family oriented games
Like every Nintendo console. Why is this a problem? Why does every console need to have a focus on mature games?

and does nothing the other consoles can do. no blu-ray, no HD, no possibility of 3d, no standard controller with the system, etc.
Again, why does this matter? If you believe that all consoles should essentially do the same thing...then why have different consoles at all?

Personally, I'd rather have the freedom of choice to choose whether to play on the Wii or the Xbox360/PS3 since they're so different.

The 360 has a better library and better online support, the PS3 has better hardware (Especially those shiny Blue Ray disks) and from what I have seen a better online community. The Wii is probably the one with more downsides to upsides, so here's hoping Project Cafe makes it up to Nintendo fans.

Honestly Yahtzee has already covered this issue, it all comes down to what you personally want from a console.

Meh, while this PS3 thing is bullshit, I'm still rather pissed about my 360 getting the red ring of death. I don't see the point of getting another one, considering I have a decent PC and many exclusives will get ported anyway. They'll probably be subpar ports, but there's still I chance I can still play them.

Of course, I don't even care about the PS3 downtime right now, I still have my Wii and PC. Can't redeem my Steam Portal 2 though. Damn hackers. :C
