Fraud! By a long shot! It will could give a positive reputation in the end when it gets out that I had nothing at all to do with it.

And my name would be known in the business-world, with no bad associations linked directly to me.

If I was accused of either of those crimes, I'd have hundreds of Sun readers beating down my door. If I was accused of Fraud, I might get a a few sneers from Guardian and Telegraph readers, so that, I guess.

Fraud. Steal a thousand bucks and you're a thief, steal a million and you're either a hero or the government. That's a Terry Pratchett paraphrase, by the way.

To be wrongly accused of murder would be the best in the UK as it would get you less prison time then stealing billions, thus less stressful.
Although child molestation is less then the above, your character would be so heavily tarnished you would be lucky not to be stoned by the thick masses even after being cleared of all charges.

I went for Child Abuse, because it's the thing I'm more likely to do? I suppose? I am in highschool and I'm 18, so I commit underage 'rape' often, screw it.
Statutory rape and child abuse are different crimes. Also, I'm just pointing out here, prosecutors could use that post as evidence if it ever came up.

Erm...What? Are you serious?
I think the guy just means that he has sex with people who like him and are eighteen as well, since you've gotta be older than eighteen where he lives to have sex. That way it's techincally illegal but not the stuff that'll get Batman on your @$$.
At least that's how I interpreted it.

Well, since the average sentence of male-on-female murder is seven years, doesn't mean a siezure of my personal assets like fraud does, and won't get me marked for murder in prison like child abuse would, I think I'd go for that. I can be out of the clink and go back to life as normal in no time flat if the worst comes to pass, and if the real murderer is caught, all I'll have to deal with is the deflated sex drive, pronounced heartbreak, unending depression, and suicidal impulses that usually come with having your other half murdered.

Something about this poll bothers me. Are we supposed to vote according to our own gender or if we'd rather be falsely accused of murdering, abusing, or frauding a woman/man?
Own gender, sorry. It was to see if women and men though differently about the reperecussions of being accused of each crime.

I'll update the OP.
That's fine.

OT: Probably child abuse... My girlfriend is 14 and i'm turning 18 in a month so i guess it wouldn't really be falsely at all. *Shrugs*

Fraud. It's the one that people would treat me nicer for.

Child abuse is very different to statutory rape.

I vote murder, assuming that the false accusation means prison time. Fraudsters get the butt-love from bigger inmates because they're sissies, and child abusers/molesters get the butt-love just prior to being stabbed with a broom handle because they're giant piles of shit. Murderers at least have some respect in prison. It could happen to them too, but the likelihood is at least smaller than the other 2 choices.
I hadn't considered that but you're right. I was considering saying murder but your answer confirmed it. Murder for me.

Fraud, because it's much easier to determine the innocence of one person (once the evidence is plentiful enough that is) in fraud and have people buy it on account of the fact that there are numbers and unless you paid someone off to crcunch the number wrong, they're undeniable.

I still hate math, by the way.

Also with child abuse, you'll still be that one guy who gets weird looks from people who either don't know of your innocence or are too invested in the other side of the spectrum to believe that you're innocent.

And it's the same thing with murder. If you're wrongly accused of murder, you'll still be looked at as a criminal even after being proven innocent.

I seem to be in a majority picking Fraud Extraordinaire.

Why? I could never stand the first since it would mean that someone I love would end up dead. Also, I would never want to be accused of something like child abuse. EVER.
