There have been a few articles about this topic, but I was just wondering what your preference was--do you as a gamer prefer online multiplayer or offline local multiplayer? Give a few reasons why, if you don't mind?

I would answer, but I think I have "local multiplayer" wrong. Is that just when you're all in the same room passing a controller around or something? If so, that.

online definitely. for one, i hate playing split screen, it actually makes me do worse when playing with a friend online at the same time. im just too used to playing alone. its fun playing single player with a friend but id rather play online.

Local refers to either multiple people on one console, with up to four controllers, or directly linked consoles on multiple televisions.

The ability to spout extra-long obcenities at your foes with maximum volume without dealing with a scratchy mike is a gift I shall tresure forever...

.... That's quite clever actually.

I like online because my friends are all really good at games and that makes me look bad.

So I go online and beat people who I've never met before instead :D

Then yes, I prefer that. I can carry on full conversations typing, but I like talking better (in person, a headset is worse than typing).

I'd rather play local, but I don't know enough people who are willing to have/join a LAN party..
So I play online.. All the fucking time...
It saddens me..

EDIT: Oh... That kind of local.. No way, split screen sucks. It makes me disoriented.

Local. Both with split-screen and LAN, or split screen over LAN. I just prefer sitting in the same room with the people I'm playing with.

id say online as because it means that you can can play with more than three of them at a time and you dont have to endure the annoyance of people looking at your screen to find out where you are during splitscreen play

Offline/Local. Although it rarely comes about, when me and three friends gather around a 360, it leads to some fun times. Hearing them all yell as the last kill is taken, with comments about funny things that happened afterwards. In fact, some of my funniest quotes come from me playing with my friends.

....Bancakes and Pacon.

Edit: And the splitscreen sort of thing doesn't do much, for we usually play it on either my 40" TV or my friends 50". And we're like three feet away said screen.

Local, by far. The only reason why people play online (MMOs not included) is because they can't get som friends in front of their televisions as often as they want to play games.

Local multiplayer is better. One reason is that it's harder for someone to quit when they're playing local... Yesterday when I was playing online; someone quit in every match. Every single match...
