Poll: Which do you think is a better series Halo or Gears of War?

Recently me and some of my best friends had a conversation about what the best video game series is and it ended up with Halo Vs. Gears of War. I think both are good but I will always love Halo more. But what do you, fellow escapists think?

halo purely for the amazing story. but then again gears has an awesome story

Halo. The story is just a bit more fun to play. In addition, the multiplayer is much better than gears and features a lot more variety.

In terms of pure gameplay, I'd have to say Gears of War. Simply because its cover mechanic makes things a lot more interesting. However, Halo did a lot for console FPS games, so I'm not even sure that's a legitimate thing.

Artistically, Halo. Better story, better music, better plot, better setting, better concepts, better everything. Though I admit that the soundtrack to the first Gears of War was freaking amazing, but still doesn't hold a candle to Halo's score by Martin O'Donnell.

So since I value art in games more than gameplay, I'll say Halo. It's just good.

Ok, Gears has only gotten up to 2, so you can't say its better with sequels because Halo got bad AFTER 2 (and in my opinion halo 3 wasn't bad at all). Also, I think Gears takes itself a bit more seriously than Halo.

Halo. Mainly because it's very original. Seriously, the only thing more original than halo was doom.

I know that essentially they've both made 2 great games, making them equal
(providing you hold the view that Halo 3 and it's other spawnings weren't so great, which you probably don't)
so as much as i'll concede that, i still just plain enjoy gears that little bit more

i'm not saying it was bad, i'm saying it went downhill
personally i think Halo 1 and 2 were better
sure 3 was a great game, but it seemed a pointless move if they couldn't improve upon it
either way i'm just voicing opinion here, I'm aware i'm easily in the minority in prefering gears

Halo by a country mile.

Gears' gameplay always felt super-clunky to me and, though Halo's story and characters aren't anything spectacular, Halo has so much more personality than Gears.
