yes, but your were giving the impression that eevee had never been a starter in any pokemon game (you hadn't specified handheld's in the OP) which was not the case.

plus, if it wasn't for some impatient rival in yellow, you would have had Eevee as a starter then as well.

Yes. I know, thats why I edited that fact in there. And it does not matter if your rival chose eevee in that game, because he is technically not a starter unless the player has access to use one.

The pokemon is clearly designed as a starter also. Instead of dumping your companion on you before you have even battled, you can get an overview of pokemon types in general before making the choice what type you want as your main poke.

Personally, I like vaporeon. I mean, what other eevee evolution can turn into its element. Its a great, sleek design, a good pokemon in battles and I've loved it from the start.

Am I the only one who misses the eeveelutions have some sort of themed collar?

Ammazingly I have never had to choose. In all 3 games I played red gold and silver, I have never caught an evee or had one evolve. I wouldn't care which it was really.

As a fan of the Dark type, Umbreon is my favourite it can take some damage to and when it's well trained, very handy in a fight.

I always had a weird mini panic attack when it came to changing my Eevee. I mean, they all just look so great. Almost completely racked with indecision. I remember the first time I ever changed an Eevee it was into Flareon. So,...Flareon, I guess.

I must say, I'm glad to see the Umbreon love in this thread.
However, I'm partial to Vaporeon. Having a Pokemon that'd melt into water whenever I wasn't using it would make maintaining it pretty easy, and it's damn cute.

Jolteon is the best gameplay wise, but Flareon is the most fuzzy and adorable. If choosing a real one I'd pick Flareon.

If I was going for battling terms in the handheld version, I don't think I'd be able to pick. Possibly Vaporeon though, since I'm not fond of too many water types.

If we're talking TV-show/real life terms, I'd let the Eevee choose for itself.

I've never had to choose... the first thing I did after getting an Eevee was catch a Ditto and run to the nearest daycare. Army of Eevees!

I guess Vaporeon though. He looks awesome, he's fairly beefy stat-wise, and once he gets a decent ice move it's game over.

I'm going to have to go with Glaceon. The one I have in Heart Gold has its special attack boosted by its nature and I've EV trained his special attack even higher. Blizzard for the win.
