Which series of films has left the largest impression onto the collective unconcious of society. I am talking about the impact on our popular culture, the way we view the world, or even just powerful quotes that are engrained in our mind. The options listed in the poll are only film series, but if you feel that there may be a singular film that has done this, feel free to suggest it.

Star Wars with out a doubt, though the biggest thing is not really the movie, but what it took to make it. Some may know, others may not, but both THX and Pixar were created by Lucas for Star Wars, and both are quite well known. (Even if for THX it's that epic sound it makes before the movie start that destroys everyone's hearing)

I think it's a bit early to be saying this sort of thing about Harry Potter. I mean, it hasn't even left the theaters in many places yet. It's still fresh in everyone's minds. Sure it's big right now, but how much staying power it has cannot be determined at this point.

And of the ones you've listed, I picked Star Wars. It really made a lot of different things come together in a way they never had before, and in a way that was and continues to be so universally liked it's just astounding (and I am talking about the first three movies made, of course).

I would say it's a toss up between Harry Potter and Star Wars. James Bond lacks any clear message throughout the films. Harry Potter has rather obvious messages about loyalty and intolerance, which can be found elsewhere. Bigger than that I think was the envelope pushing of children's media, and the idea of the maturity of content aging with its audience/characters. It's yet to be seen if that will be picked up in other franchises, but it could start a huge shift. Star Wars brings Eastern philosophical points about fate, and balance/ying-yang to children. It was probably many peoples' (including my own) first exposure to these concepts. Lord of the Rings (Peter Jackson's I assume) is a classic underdog tale of perseverance, and good vs. evil which I think lessens its impact. There are too many other films that fill that niche that people might be exposed to.

So for now I would probably say Star Wars, but Harry Potter is in a prime position to be more influential.

Star Wars, absolutely. Many people who have never seen the movies can still recognize the characters and quotes, which shows how pervasive it is. And if you count THX and Pixar, then there really is no question about it.

I would say that the Harry Potter books have had a much more significant impact on society than the films. I love the films, but it's the books that carry the franchise.

The "collective unconscious" is a jungian term by nature, and I'm not too sure you used it in the right context. However, out of all the films you listed, I feel that star wars has generally showed the most applicable quantitative results regarding things like profit and popularity.
