Ya know what would be great? If Haunting with Polterguy came back to modern systems. Give the game levels (single family home, split-level home, town houses and, mansion) and model the game in a manner similar to Arkham Asylum/City and, Naughty Bear. You continue playing as Polterguy who should be a cartoonishly suave looking poltergeist but only to offset the impending horror.
This wouldn't be a horror game where you survive but a horror game in which you haunt a family or, families in an attempt to make them either leave the house or, kill them outright. You can't interact with the family directly and they can't see you but you can manipulate inanimate objects and things like the lights at least until you deteriorate the mental health of the people you're haunting. Each member of the family will have their own Mental Health bar and each time you scare them it goes down a little which is where the strategy comes into play. You can either try scaring the family as a whole or, you can focus on a single person which can lead to that person snapping or, can leave that person in a suggestive state which is the only time you can possess the people.
The original game was pretty disturbing but a remake could potentially let you make people kill themselves or other members of their family. It would be a hard M or potentially an A/O but it could potentially be the most violent/disturbing game. In a post manhunt market though, I think we're just about ready for another game that could render news casters comatose.
