This seems almost like one of those spam threads we get from time to time, except someone forgot to put in the obvious virus link.

Here's some discussion value: Is dead space more of an action series, or horror series?
Yes. Hence my post earlier. And it's all because we can move and have such strong weaponry. I never felt helpless in that game.

As for the OP, I half-way think this is a joke to point out the genre doesn't exist, yet it'd be cool if it did.

I'm certainly looking forward to the second one, although I've heard the last one is fairly well anticipated. I'll reserve my opinion until I see some gameplay.

Cant remember the name of it its been a while since I last went to the future but think its going to be made in 3150 anyway its fully immersive and all things for all people and totally and utterly brilliant its definitely the one I like the most, its too bad about what happens in 3151 guess we will never see a better one.

This thread is the closest you can get to a "horror thread", I mean we have op talking about horror, firmly believing he is showing us something and yet we get nothing. It's as if an invisible spectre is watching over all who post here and is just waiting...preparing to do something. You came expecting a list? Perhaps we are on the list...

Both. Dead Space is action horror, which is inherently less scary than survival horror like Silent Hill, but allows for much more hopeful storylines. It's basically like the difference between Alien and Aliens, and to say that one form of horror is more relevant than the other seems incredibly short-sighted to me.

Anyway, as to which upcoming horror games I'm most excited for (I'm pretty sure that's what the failed poll was supposed to be about), it's going to have to be Dead Space 3 for me. There's always some reason to worry when it comes to the third game in a series, but if it ends up being at least as good as Dead Space 2 without messing up the story, I'll be happy.

So no one is going to talk about the topic?
[small]I hope I don't get banned for this[/small]

I actually see Fallout 3 as a horror game of sorts. The first time I laid eyes on a ghoul, all I could think about was "OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCK"!

Meh, If there was a poll I would have chosen the bacon option anyway.

Need a scary list? Why not

1) Flesh eating Zoidberg
2) Impaling Zoidberg
3) Defenstrating Zoidberg
4) Surprise Zoidberg

Ya know what would be great? If Haunting with Polterguy came back to modern systems. Give the game levels (single family home, split-level home, town houses and, mansion) and model the game in a manner similar to Arkham Asylum/City and, Naughty Bear. You continue playing as Polterguy who should be a cartoonishly suave looking poltergeist but only to offset the impending horror.

This wouldn't be a horror game where you survive but a horror game in which you haunt a family or, families in an attempt to make them either leave the house or, kill them outright. You can't interact with the family directly and they can't see you but you can manipulate inanimate objects and things like the lights at least until you deteriorate the mental health of the people you're haunting. Each member of the family will have their own Mental Health bar and each time you scare them it goes down a little which is where the strategy comes into play. You can either try scaring the family as a whole or, you can focus on a single person which can lead to that person snapping or, can leave that person in a suggestive state which is the only time you can possess the people.

The original game was pretty disturbing but a remake could potentially let you make people kill themselves or other members of their family. It would be a hard M or potentially an A/O but it could potentially be the most violent/disturbing game. In a post manhunt market though, I think we're just about ready for another game that could render news casters comatose.
