My ATi works just fine and the Catalyst Control centre is a useful program for watching the temperature and overclocking, but I'd be more inclined towards NVidia purely on what my friends have said. Are you sure you want to upgrade already? That'a a nice graphics card you have already.

We've got pretty much the excactly same specs, and I've also got the 5770.

It is a very good mid-range card, and if you can run them in XF they will scale very nicely, so after a while you could get another one and get approximately the same power as a 5850 for a lower price.

Anyway, I think that just because the 5770 has dx11 support, it's a better buy than the GeForce 260.

PS: With the same specs as you, but with only half your RAM, I can run TF2 at max settings at 1600x1000 without dropping below 50 FPS in firefights.
But can you run Cross-fire on an SLI board? I didn't think it was possible?
There are firmware tweaks that make it possible, though it's hardly recommended.

OT: I'd probably upgrade something else, as I doubt that 8800GTX is your computers bottleneck (I have dual 2900XTs which are the same era, and graphics performance is bar far my computers strong point). Annoyingly, in that rig I think cpu would most likely be the part lagging the system, and buying a new one (that's worthwile) would probably involve replacing the motherboard, if you have the cash to burn go for it, but I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't. I guess
I was thinking of keeping the 8800GTX and upgrading the monitor for a 120Hz Samsung and getting NVIDIA 3D Vision and push myself slightly over-budget(costs £260 i think).
is the best option.

So many different ideas lol.

Well i've decided to upgrade my CPU to a Phenom II Quad Core 3.40Ghz and see how it runs, then i'll either get the 5770 or save up for a 58xx series card :)

I don't know a lot about this, but your gpu might bottleneck your CPU if you go for the quad-core.

Apparently, the Geforce 300 series is meant to be released by the end of the year, might be worth me waiting to see what they bring to the table? At worst, it may cause ATi to lower their prices.
