The term "Special Snowflakes" is constantly used as a pejorative. Usually against social justice advocates. So, let's attempt to have a civil conversation about which group of people should never be made fun of.

Let me clarify the term "Make Fun Of": I am making it as broad as possible. "Make Fun Of" means joke about, insult, criticize, disagree with, or anything else that would make someone get their feelings hurt.

Gamers. They'll throw an internet hissy fit the likes of which rarely seen when any other group is made fun of.

On a slightly more serious note, it's less about who "you should never make fun of" and more about how people should learn how to actually tell jokes. So much internet humour is "Look at this offensive thing I said! YOU TRIGGERED?" ... and that was literally never funny. I'm sure there's a right way to make a joke about almost anything, but so many people are offended when their bad humour results in people rightfully telling them they suck.

EDIT: Oh, and for funsies, I'm voting "you should never make fun of anyone". Partially because it's just nice and partially because I'm an evil SJW.

See, i think we can't have a meaningful discussion as long as these things will be put on the same level.

OT: I semi-seriously picked religious people, cause they can really fuck you up in retaliation. So, yeah, don't make fun of gods, m'kay.

So long as it doesn't cross the line into harassment, no one is off the table (which will really trigger SJWs who have quite a few sacred cows), but if it crosses the line of harassment (and I mean actual harassment, not the SJW definition that criticism or mockery is automatically such) then it shouldn't happen.

Take the piss out of anybody, just don't do it on the basis of their innate characteristics.

The quality of the humour should increase as a fun side effect.

No one. Everyone can and should be made fun of. Having protected groups wont help anyone and will only further to distance people and build resentment between groups.

I'll make fun of people for what they do- not for what they are. If some normal everyday idiot decides to eat thirty dollars worth of quarters on a dare and then dies of intestinal rupture, then I'll say "ha ha, what an idiot, what did you expect to happen when you eat thirty dollars worth of quarters". But I'm not going to point and laugh when some guy with Down's Syndrome or another obvious genetic deformity drops a glass in a restaurant, because that's not something that individual has any real control over.

No sacret cows. It just depends on how you make fun of them. Are you just making a harmless jab or trying to actively hurt other people?

I'm trying to be tolerant towards religions, comming from a fairly devout community, though continuously fail. It's hard not to poke fun of people who tell that god plans to teleport catholics and children to heaven while leaving them to run around naked until the end of time.

For safety reasons, white men.

For sanity reasons, everyone else.

To feel morally superior, insult everyone.

To make failed attempts at self-awareness, insult yourself.

To get sent to hell, insult God.

To get into heaven, insult his fake followers.

To know how poorly you're managing your time, finish reading this.

Out of those list no one. I don't see the appeal of making fun of someone just because he or she is in a specific group.

Well, discuss the differences between them. Why would joking about a group of people is worst or better than disagreeing with them?

Gamers. So, your answer is "White Males". As for you funsie answer, if you were an evil SJW. You wouldn't honestly believe that you should never make fun of anyone. You would believe that white people and men are acceptable targets.

I believe comedy means no one is off-limits. There is a difference between satire, parody, and straight up viciousness with intent to harm.
A great example is the Rob Lowe Roast of Ann Coulter. Like the woman or not, what those people did was wrong. I'm not a fan of hers, but I also don't hate the woman, but even if I did I'd never stoop to that level. In my opinion it brought down the entire point of the Comedy Roast. Absolutely low.

Yes, I agree. When I saw the title I thought 'yakuza', but some good old fashioned fundamentalists could do you in too.

They were insufferably unfunny about the whole thing.

That mockery and disagreement seem to be equated is the kind of thing that makes me wonder if there's a point to social interaction at all anymore.

At any rate, there's no one that should never be made fun of. Ask a hundred people you pass on the street what the world has too much of, and two things you'll never hear are "humor" and "humility".

Ya know, everyone is saying the thing I actually feel, so to go with one of my mottos "Everything in context" I will go with never make fun of the person saving your life as you make the joke. Maybe wait until after you're pulled from the burning building before you mock their silly voice or something.
