Pain. It's an unavoidable part of life. We've all sustained injuries at one point or another. I recently suffered an injury to my leg, and in the aftermath the wound complains every now and then. I got to remembering past injuries that had bothered me long after I'd first received them, and in that spirit I was wondering which type of injury you dread the most having to put up with while it heals. I've known some people who think paper cuts are the worst, others despise sunburns and still others hate wounds that punish them for movement. They all hurt in their own way so which is it for you?

Burns, absolutely no question about it. I would take absulutely anything over being burned.

Blunt force bone trauma, hurts like a *****.
I've been hurt by most of the options and getting your bones banged is the worst.

In terms of long-term pain, I find burns the worst. Chemical or heat, they're both bad. I remember having a horrific reaction to hair remover once (on my bikini area), and the pain where my clothes chafed was almost unbearable.

I've been mugged (beaten to a pulp), and I'm a boxer. Ive shattered the bones in my hand in a biking incident. Soft tissue blunt force hurts for 3 days, broken/shattered bones hurt as well as prevent you from moving.

I've also had a piece of glass go up my arm, slicing the entire inside of my arm, the stitches actually hurt more than the cut.

Burning has to be the most painful. I've experienced Freezer burn via Liquid Nitrogen treatments for my hands when i was only 7-9. Twice a week for 2 years, i had 24 warts on my hands systematically frozen off with LN. The pain is something similar to sticking a cigar there and smashing the wound with a hammer. All the fingernails on both hands fell off and my right hand was rendered useless for a year because of this stuff. Burning is the worst thing in the world, something I wish on nobody.

Reading instructions and/or doing a test patch first is awesome...

chemical burns SUCK. I've had every option happen to me and the two worst were blunt force bone trauma and chemical burns, out of the two though chemical burns are worse.

I'd say burns. I haven't been burned too badly, but the pain always lasts the longest.

blunt force cuts, when you get hit so hard with a fist or other blunt item and it cuts your skin, its the worst pain ever.

Blunt force - bone

Why small taps to funny bone hurt and they always kneecap people to cause pain. Also it it causes enough damage to snap the bone you then have the pain of the shards cutting into other tissues

If there's one type of wound that makes you feel like you're dying (and is actually more likely to kill you), it's puncture wounds...
Well, anything more than about a quarter inch deep, anyway. Gut wounds worst of all...

Scrapes - all the flesh from one arm over a few minutes with sandpaper is more painful than any blunt impact could be.

I'm not sure about the rest of the list, but I know that cuts aren't that bad at all, and puncture wounds are hardly worth mentioning (if we're talking about needles, nails and such), but bruises, although they are quite harmless apart from infections, FRELLING HURT!

I suppose it depends on severity, as well. Something small, like a needle, I don't consider a wound. A 16-penny nail through the foot, though...

What would you classify aches as, such as toothache or the gut-ache you feel as a result of hitting your balls?

Those internal pains with no direct external stimulation are pretty bad... perhaps you should have a new catch-all category for internal/organ aches and pains.

A splitting headache, stabbing toothache or stabbing gut pains are very painful, but they can't really be classified as puncture wounds, similarly the real pain of being kicked in the balls isn't really the blunt force trauma (in the soft tissue of your balls) that causes it, but a sharp, stabbing pain in your gut (which isn't a puncture wound).
