If you played the other games you would have known about F.E.V. you would understand that the introduction of vaultec and the new technology coming with it changed the course of history and if the game had present day culture, this game couldn't exist due to nuclear fallout. This is a game, and a futuristic game where anything is plausible after all. I'll would say you didn't bash the story, but that would be going back to F.E.V. you also said that the elder scrolls had a cooler and more attractive story for a diverse audience. The whole Pro American patriotism was more or less generated in a world filled with American propaganda, and the fact that their country is all they have left. If this game took place in France, or Germany, or even China it would have been much the same, except China would be very anti-American as they were in war with each other. Oblivion felt like any other fantasy universe, the story and culture not brought out in the slightest way except for the main quest path. Fallout 3's setting and story could be felt throughout the entire game. Don't worry I didn't take your bet seriously, you can keep your thousand bucks.Malicious said:Well Oblivion was kinda buggy and i hate them lizard and lion people but i really disliked Fallout 3 setting and the huge amounts of pro american patriotism, like the game was for the US only. Also i dont like the way they mixed the culture of the cold war to make us relate and empathyse with the game but again it only works if your american or into that stuff. Also V.A.T.S was bad but the overall gameplay was nice the story rewarding and cool and Malcolm Mcdowel propaganda just made me keep going till the end. Also radiation turns people to corpses rather than super mutants which i also hated. I prefer Oblivion cause its a fantasy setting where anything is plausible,im a big fan of western fantasy rpg's and i love sword fighting and magic. Also the game had a better story and was overly cooler and more attractive for a diverse audience. And also Fallout copyes a lot from Oblivion gameplay
I never said the game took place in the 60-70s, I said that was when history was REPLACED by the game's story. Also, the greatly enhanced creatures were based of a 50's belief, like everything else in the fallout universe. Anything can happen, this game does take place in the future, and it is a work of fiction. Believe it or not, you don't need to play any of the previous games to enjoy this one, you just have trouble comprehending the game itself.
Unfortunately I still think Oblivion was the better of the two till Fallout 3 gets some better mods, and I am a fan of the Elder Scrolls.
