Hello Escapists, I have just gotten done with a 7 hour Mass Effect streak, and I gotta say, it is up there in immersion with Fallout 3 (another fantastic game.) I just wanted your guys' opinions on which game draws you into the story more?

Mass Effect or Fallout 3?

Mass Effect for me. Fallout 3 just didn't do it for me. I can't explain why, but...oh well. I played Mass Effect twice in a row in 2 weeks. Amazing game. Can't wait for number 2.

Mass Effect's animations and the way people move are quite subtle, and well done so I would have to say that it is much more immersive. As for Fallout 3's animations, well, let's just say that they aren't quite up to par.

I always thought about Robot Chicken whenever Joker said anything, so Fallout wins. Also, during Mass Effect I was staring at the back of some guys head the whole time, but Fallout is first person. Also, Liam Neeson.

Morrowind felt more immersive but I'd imagine Oblivion is probably the most.

Out of the two on the poll... probably Mass Effect. Mainly only voting for it since I've still yet to beat it and I've played Fallout 3 through two times and am now on my third (nuetral karma is suuch a pain.) Don't have DLC for FO3 though also. That could influence the vote.

This, perfectly sums up my opinion.

hmm..didn't necessarily like both games much but I'll give Fallout 3 the medal for immersive world and Mass Effect the medal for immersive story.

I found the five minute Mass Effect elevator rides to be too much for me. The same level of immersion I experience when I fall asleep in real elevators. Which is to say, none.

Also, in real life when I walk down the hall 99% of the time the hallway doesn't render in front of me. The other 1% of the time is more likely my mental state.

Mass Effect for sure. In Fallout I felt connections to no one allowing me to pillige and slaughter as I saw fit. In Mass Effect it was different as I struggled with choices trying to be evil was the hardest thing I could do, as I was forced to do things that made me feel sick, even now as I type this. Just thinking about it makes me sick thats how immersive Mass Effect was to me

Gotta say Fallout 3, their both pretty good.

Mass Effect is expecially bad at immersion if you are a male Commander Shepard and have to listen to Mark Meer's shitty voice acting.

Both games are equally awesome and immersive.... buuuut... Mass effect got me to play it for 12 hours straight and kept me coming back.

Personally, I didn't like either game. But if its a question of which one i hated more (thus being less immersive) fallout 3 wins hands down. Mass Effect has lots of colourful people and places to visit, interesting stories and alright voice acting. Fallout 3 has a bad storyline, bad voice acting nad a ridiculous setting.

DON'T ATTACK ME I'm just pointing out the obvious, a game doesn't have to be good for people to like it, as proven by fallout 3.

I've yet to play either, but I don't doubt that I'd be equally immersed in either if I did.

Fallout 3 is too intimidating to explore completely and Mass Effect is too... narrow? I don't know how to put it but for how big it may seem, there's little content. Only 5% of the planets you can actually set foot on and only less than 10% of those you actually have something to do...
