Graphics.

I usually turn off the music when I play a game and either put on my own or just not listen to music whilst playing.
You must have trouble playing Rock Band.

So long as the graphics dont look like dogshit and the music is more appealing then nails on a chalkboard........i couldn't care. I know its not helpful to say that in this thread so if i had to choose one, Music.

well gameplay and story are more important than graphics and music but if i had to chose one it would be music. graphics don't make a good game.

I love good game music. Some of my favourite (single player) gaming experiences have been enhanced significantly by great music, and the list of games I remember because of their great music is longer than the list of games I remember for their great graphics. Also, music ages far better than graphics will ever do.

But in the end I'm gonna have to choose graphics. Why? Because after the music has looped for the Nth time and I start getting tired of it (or if it just plain sucks in the first place), I can turn off the music and play my own stuff. Since I can't do the same for graphics, I'm gonna be stuck looking at the same stuff all game long, so it better be good.

I'd say graphics, while the music is setting the mood, the graphics are the main part of the whole athmosphere. This is ofc speasking more of the "artistic" quality of the graphics and not the technical.
In many games, the music is almost irelevant or non-existant, primarily multiplayer games, especially multiplayer FPS. But i'm yet to find a game where theres no graphics. Though they're pretty irrelevant in Guitar hero. It doesn't need to look pretty in any way.

I vote music. A good soundtrack can make or break the storytelling of a game. Unless it's an FPS, in which case I turn the music off and put on SotD or sumthin...

Obviously both are hugely necissary, but I've found that games with good music and nothing else aren't worth the effort, sometimes a game can stand out for having stellar graphics and being mediocre in other regards. That is to say, music is only worthwhile with an already well established atmosphere, something which relies on graphics, whereas graphics can add to even rudimentary hack'n'slash, basic puzzle or generic FPS games with little actual immersion.
