N-word. Reasoning is as follows:
1. Yahtzee uses words like "fuck" and "****" on a regular basis
2. Even HE didn't want to use the "n word". The one time he did, it was a "curse cut short" gag. (Blood on the Sand review, "Not that they'd know anything about work, the lazy ni[CREDITS]")

I think most people have been desensitised by the "N-word," because it's said so much these days.
So I'd say the "C-word" is more offensive.

If its cracker... Idk.
Does Cracker really offend white people?
no.
I figured that. Why be offended about your ancestors having control? Idk who even thought to call white people that and hope it hurt feelings.

I've been called both, and I am neither, so why should I be offended by someone else not understanding what a word describes?

To be offended by words is accepting others opinions forced on you by the "offender", so I choose the last option.

PS: History and small people might run the world but they won't tell me what to think!

N-Word.

Theres no competition between the two.
Even a white man would be pissed getting called one.

I've been called the C-word if its the one I think and I just kinda looked like wtf? And laughed.
Hell i'm freakin white and my friends and I call each other that all the time.

By the way are we all five, typing the (the n-word). Just type ******. Why are we even saying (the n-word) for? So that no one will know what we're saying.

I find the N-word to be more offensive, (I'm white tho) because it is aimed at a race of people. **** isn't an offensive word at all, nobody even uses it where I come from.

The N-word is a highly loaded racial slur with a deep rooted history for an entire race of people. The C-word is just a crass and offensive word. I would rate the N-word as more offensive, but context is always important too.

Guess thats you and your friends, when I've heard of white people being called N-words its because theyre referring to them being worthless or just knowing that being "black" is looked down upon in certain circles.

For example : "Youre just like those "N-Word" friends that you hang out with."

my ancestors didn't have control. they were subjected to British imperial rule for 800 years until the country tore itself apart in civil war in the early 20th century, a scar which remains across the state to this day. my great grandfather had to sneak in to the States through Canada and was never technically a citizen. he did this to avoid the prejudice that was waiting for him off the boat on Ellis Island, and so he could avoid the NINA and feed his family.

but thanks for asking.

Yahtzee is British, **** is only offensive to us Americans for some reason, to many sensitive pansies over here.

oh, yeah. no way you're going to offend an octogenarian with that kind of slang.

actually, i think the only thing that offends them is buying foreign cars and calling a repair man. that and the kids with their saggy pants, though that offends everyone.

Cunts are fucks +1 (or +2 if you're American, apparently they find it more offensive than us). ****** has much more weight to it, although its more context-sensitive.

So yeah, a word that still carries 300 years worth of racism and oppression is worse than a meaner way of saying twat.

Damn right saggy pants offends everyone. Why the hell do you need to sag your pants down AND where a belt to KEEP them that low?

The word `****' I would presume.

In answer to the OPs question, I really have no idea. It seems to be of the flavour `Which is more fruity? An apple or a pear?' They can both offensive if used (in)appropriately. To attempt to quantify offense seems... bizarre.

Well the "N" word isn't really a swear word, but it's definitely more offensive. If you call someone by a **** it's just a generic insult that doesn't really, in the scheme of things, carry much weight apart from anger. Calling someone a ****** is a much more personal insult that carries with it much more history and suffering.

**** is the strongest swear word over here but maybe we're just much more open about it.

Reading this thread, I'm now unsure if 'the c-word' is referring to **** or cracker. This is why it's better to actually write the words down, to avoid confusion. I don't really understand why people are so loathe to do so, for the purposes of defining an argument, I'd say it's perfectly acceptable to actually say what it is you want to discuss. For the purposes of this reply, I'm going to assume 'the c-word' is ****. And also that 'the n-word' is ******.

I would be inclined to say that **** is more offensive, as any person of any race or sex could be offended by it, whereas ****** is generally only offensive to black people. So by simple maths, **** would seem to be more offensive. But then, I would actually consider ****** to be more offensive because it's a specific racial slur, whereas **** can be used against anyone, like I said. So actually my maths have turned against me. I'm going to say that ****** is more offensive.

That being said, I have a problem with the fact that ****** is only offensive if a white person says it. Plenty of black musicians and comedians regularly use the word ****** with seemingly no repercussions, yet if a white person were to sing along to one such song, they would not be very popular for it. So that leads me to believe that it can't be all that offensive.

I don't know. I think the important thing is context, and how the word is used. If someone is singing along to a song and uses either word, I don't think that they should be construed as offensive, because they are not being used in an offensive manner, nor are they directed at a particular person. If they are used in a derogatory or insulting manner towards a specific person/group of people, then I think that both can be very offensive. At the end of the day, they are but words, so it's however much stock people want to place in them, and it's then up to them how much offense they want to take.

EDIT: So I'll say that they can be equally offensive, depending on the target.

My wiew on the subject is this:

**** is a reference to the female genetalia and I do not understand why words like: fuck, ****, cock or bollocks are used as swear words since they refer to "good" things.
I realise that fucking is a "sin" and should be avoided but in 2011? Really?

****** however is a reference to the slaves of the early America and thus to the lesser value of black people.
And that sort of racism is a hell of a lot worse than the soft and warm reproduction facility of our female counterpart.
