What the hell is the C-word? '****'? That basically works as an arbitrary swear word related to stuff that happens below the belt and carries no weight whatsoever. You can't seriously compare it to a word that turned into an insult because of racism?

Americans... -.-

I find it offensive when people use "x-word" instead of actual words. And confusing.

A word is only as offensive as you allow it to be.

But to answer your question, neither, it's when people say "bother" that nigh on makes me faint D=

"******" is far more offensive, due to the past of the word.

"****" used to be a fairly upper class word until the peasants got a hold of it, you know.

Each person finds different words offensive for different reasons so at the end of the day whether a particular word is offensive or not is largely going to be a subjective thing rather than an official 'this word is 75% more offensive than that word' sort of thing.

The word '******' (or 'the N word' if you really feel uneasy about saying it) is somewhat strange in that it's still considered to be extremey offensive by many even though there was at one point an attempt made to 'reclaim' the word and strip it of it's hurtful and offensive connotations, however , this failed miserably because of the widely known (and occasionally joked about or satirised) 'but that's our word' stance and an apparant inability of the individuals who wished to strip the word of it's offensive power to realise that in order to do so you can't be offended by it anymore or have a probem with people saying it.

So, recently there has been a controversy surrounding Rick Perry's hunting ground containing a colloquial name that is a racial slur. Naturally, the reaction has been that "there is no more offensive word in the English language." But, I've noticed whenever someone in the public eye uses the C-word, the exact same claim is made.
[EDIT: I had forgotten the British take on the C-Word seems a bit less harsh than the US's. I should state that this is within the United-Statesian lexicon]
People have claimed that **** is the most offensive word in the English language? REALLY?!

Cunts are not offensive. I have one, and it's both awesome and enjoyable.

On the list of female-based swears, it's like the upgrade of *****. And, just like *****, it can also be a compliment, in the right circumstances.

So... yeah. The only reason people are scared to talk about cunts is because they're FEMALE SEXUAL ANATOMY - and in America (where I live) that freaks people the hell out. And it shouldn't.

Is it impolite to call someone a ****? Sure. It's equally impolite to call someone a *****. And, really, they're both synonyms for strong women who are unwilling to take someone's shit - and strong women are a good thing.

Quite frankly anyone taking offense at a word is per definition unreasonable.

This leads me to decide on a case-by-case basis whether somebody would be offended by anything, and whether I care about offending said person.

Race is not my first choice for an insult though, as there are many more... creative options out there.

I dont understand the being offended thing personally. I guess if its someone I care about calling me something and meaning it, but anyone I care about would never do something like that. If I were to try and choose it would be difficult though. Black people call each other the N-word all the time, and when it comes down to it, the word isnt actually offensive, theres lots of theories as to the root of the word itself(nigeria/latin word for black) both of which have no negative connotations. I can understand the word "fag" being offensive, since it means burning bundle of sticks, and they used to burn homosexuals. The C word just sounds offensive, but isnt really, some women really dont like it, some like when you use it in those "talk dirty to me" moments.

tl;dr ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT IS COMING BACK :D

I feel a racial slur is worst. I really don't undersatnd why people go up in arms over the word ****. It's value is only as powerful as people want it to be. Which I find stupid. It's just a word. You could say that about ****** but where **** can apply to anyone where ****** can't be. Well not logically. So because you choose to swear at them singling out there race. That is worst.

N-Word, it's just a horrble thing to say to anyone, even I wouldn't call my worst enemy that.
The C-Word on the other hand is nothing, the only people offended by **** are Americans and Feminists who are yet to understand the greatness of the word.

What the hell does cracker mean? I've litereally never heard of this used as a swear
It's a derogatory term for white people. Based on the fact that slave-drivers would crack the whip to make the salves work harder/faster.

I say the N-word since the C-word had been thrown around abit in the past (I'm from the UK) before it became a huge offensive word (well it was offensive but minor) today.

It all depends on context.
Neither '******' nor '****' are offensive words if you do not use them to offend.
I resent the notion that I shouldn't be allowed to use words just because they can be used to offend people.

You don't see people banning kitchen knives because they're potential weapons.

CK FTW

He sure knows how to use expletives artfully, that man. I went with N, as it's a directed, targeted insult. You can call anyone a C, but N only works on certain targets. However I think ****** should be as bad, considering its history, that they#d burn gays but consider them not worth decent firewood.

Again, came up on Louis CK's show.

I use them both like they're going out of style, so I don't really find either offensive. Swears only hold power when people treat them like they're sacred. I acknowledge the history behind ******, but I thought the point of reclaiming a word is to remove the stigma.

is the C-Word Coon or Cracker?

if it is Coon, then that is more offensive than ******

if it's cracker, i would say the ****** is more offensive as cracker isnt even an insult to me, and im white
