I think, in theory, that the C-word is more offensive. If you refer to someone as being that word it's an insult against them as a person. If you refer to someone as being an N-word it's really just a particularly unpleasant way of pointing out their race.

Look at it this way; is "your skin is brown" more offensive than "you are an awful person"?

No word is inherently offensive, people just exaggerate them and take them as offensive. It's all about what was meant behind them.
I assume 'C' is ****, because crap isn't bad at all. I hate the word **** because it's so horrible to say. It's really tinny. Not like most eloquent British swears.

What the hell does cracker mean? I've litereally never heard of this used as a swear
It's a derogatory term for white people. Based on the fact that slave-drivers would crack the whip to make the salves work harder/faster.
You know, I've always wondered. I thought it was because crackers (as in 'cheese and') were white.

OT: I call my best friends cunts and niggers and no one takes offense because we know there's no malice behind it.

If ****** was actually an offensive word, then it would be offensive when everyone used it; not just white people.

As for ****, well, I honestly don't get what the big deal is with saying ****. It is literally just a word like any other.

Disgustingly derogatory term for a certain variety of human being, or the name for the female genitalia that I think may have been derived from the name of some goddess.. Hm.

So the C-word is either **** or Cracker. The N-word is more offensive either way.
Seriously, **** isn't even that offensive.

What does the C-Word mean? I am thinking of plenty of words that start with C, so yeah, I can't really say which one's more offensive with the current knowledge that I have.

Neither word is more offensive than the other, or even more offensive than, say, 'dandelion'. Words cannot be offensive unless one person intends it to spite another, and the second person takes offense to its use. Not saying it doesn't happen (Lord knows it happens innumerable times every day on the internet), but a word by itself is not offensive without hate being put behind it.

'******' generally is considered a racial epithet towards black people, but many black people have taken the word and turned it into a term of endearment towards each other, substituting the 'er' for an 'a' and literally using it in the same context that one would use the word 'friend'. How many times have we heard people say about Person A "Yeah, that's my nigga!" when describing a close friendship? Personally, I heard it on a daily basis in high school, maybe not in so many words, but in the same context. They stopped letting the word offend them, and they turned it on its head.

'****' isn't, or wasn't' even an insult. It was just a slang term for female genitalia. People have started using it as an insult in the recent past, but that's not how it originally was used.

From the progression of **** one could argue that literally any word in existence could be repurposed into an insult of some sort.

Seeing as the N-word was used as an oppression tool in a large part of American history and continues to hold weight as a trigger of institutionalized and multi-generational oppression there is no comparison.

The N-word is a vile, disgusting word. I am aware that some of you say (OP included) that words are inherently harmless, but I beg to differ. A word such as this that has been used to oppress such as the N-word can cause severe harm, especially when used by a white person.

I am aware that (mainly the last two generations) of African Americans use the N-word in such a way that it "reclaims" the word, but I feel that they are simply re-creating the oppressive atmosphere that spawned the word in the first place.

Now for the other part of the conversation, the "c-word." I personally feel that the "c-word" has been (recently) used as a way to promote gender bias against women. However, I feel that this word does not hold the same clout that the N-word does, especially since it is recent that people are viewing it as oppressive to women.

Personally, I don't think the C-word is even in the same ballpark as the N-word.

Is this the C-word that rhymes with "hunt" and the n-word that rhymes with "bigger", because there could be a large number of offensive terms in the English language that start with c and n.

If they are indeed those words, I would have to go with the n-word. While the c-word is more offensive to a woman, the n-word is offensive to an entire race. Yahtzee has also dulled me to the c-word.

First of all, you can swear on the internet. Your mom won't see it. [s/]Shes too busy being fucked be ME![/s]

Second, which C-Word??? ****? Crap? *****? Cock-a-doodle-doo?

In any case, I find the "N" word to be much worse.

Some Afro-Somethings refer to each other as niggers.
"****" is just a stupid word.

I consider neither of them offensive. If I want to mock you, I'd call you an anencephalic son of a *****.

The N word has a worse origination story behind it and I've found most woman (including myself) find the "C" word rather silly, and not sure why it's taken so seriously.

Granted, it sometimes holds the same weight as "fuck you" but I've become pretty desensitized to that, too.
