For people who are offended by the c-word, go to the UK for a week, you'll get over real quick.

I don't find offense in words, but, I would say that between the two, the N-bomb is more offensive. Because of what it represents. That, and I use **** often, so...

I hear black people calling each other the N-word quite frequently.

I do not, however, hear women commonly calling each other the C-word.

My vote is thus for the latter. I'd certainly avoid using either one, personally.

Words are words. They are only offense because people like the FCC and their grandmothers grew up in different times than today. I predict that in the next 20 or so years all the "bad" words we know today will be as common to say on TV and the radio as "hell" and "damn". And in say 50 years or so, when all of our parents have died, they will be common place. But by then, 50 years from now we could've come up with a new racial slur or two or maybe even aliens will have finally visited us and introduced their language and customs and racial terms etc. and thus the cycle starts all over again.

I never understood why americans and old people get worked up over swear words, they are just that, swear words.
What really sets me on edge are the euphemisms used by those financial and economic types. Reminds me of the way, language was used to dehumanize the holocaust victims.

I'm sorry, but the day the c-word gets on equal status with the n-word is that day that women are in danger of being hung, castrated, and then set on fire by people using the word.

Which is to say, never.

My first thought? What the hell is the C-word? Canada? Camp? Car? Craftsman? I guess I can guess what it is, but really, this masking of offensive words is pathetic. ****** does not become less offensive by calling in the N-word. If a word is as terrible as ****** is, then bloody well don't use it. But don't hide it away behind a mask so you can use it anyway. Don't use the word!

The same goes for F-bomb. What a childish word. Say fuck or refrain from using the word, damn it. It's better than looking like a child when you say f-bomb.

Is the C-word we're talking about cracker or coon? Either way, I think it's the N-word, although much of it's impact has been eroded. I'm caucasian, so I can't really say, but I thought it was just a word now?

Is the C-Word ****? I assume so, it could be 'cracker' or...since we're talking about racism here...'chinky.'

Going on this assumption, definitely ****** since it can actually be used to offend people. ****, on the other hand, is just a vulgar description of female genitalia. Or if you're from Scotland it can be used as a stand-in for 'people' as in "these cunts are well mental, ken?"

Of course cultural bias does have a lot to do with this.

If you held a gun to my head, and I had to pick, it would be the N-word, since there is a bloody history behind it. I didn't even know the C-word was a swear for the longest time. I can't help but think that the C-word being so bad lately is because of a certain gender based group who take them selves far too seriously.
I think this was well said.

I feel that this text also captures, in a nutshell, my feelings on the matter.

I also would like to say that comparing the trials and tribulations of an entire ethnicity to a gender group is, first and foremost, an apples-to-oranges comparison at best.

At the worst, it is hugely offensive to both groups.

Well the N word is racial slur so that one I suppose. Tho people still use it and it has a differnt meaning to some now. People call themselves "nigga". With C word...this is hard to explain without sounding crazy...the word itself, not the meaning just sounds more forceful and nasty. You can't say it without it sounding like an insult. Tho no it?s not that offensive and I don't throw hissy fits when I hear it or anything. I just don't like the word.

I would have to go with the c-word, it is one of the few words I have reservations about saying, and I would say it is probably the LEAST used word in media. The N-word has people who are allowed to use it, the C-word does not.

What bothers me more is people saying the words can't hurt you. "Sticks and Stones" is bullshit. I'm fairly sure there's some nerds on these threads who were fucked around with in middle and high school.

But I'd say ******, as due to the history behind it and the connotations. I never say it, since I'm a half-black Hispanic and I'm not sure I'm "allowed" to say it. But agreeing with the guy who put the boondocks clip (or agreeing with the boondocks clip) that the offensive capability of the word has been watered down by the blacks constantly using the words like it's a goddamn greeting.

Are you kidding? It actually offends me more when people argue that the word **** is devastating than when someone calls me a ****. If you've ever called someone a dick, well, same thing. It's not sexist it's not evil, it's a word darnit and I'm tired of being called a sexist pig for calling a guy or girl a **** when they do something legitimately shitty. No ******, that is a fucked up word and using it as an actual insult is not okay.

I'm white, I use the word "******" with my friends, both black and white. Why? I'm not trying to be offensive when I say it. Word are just sounds with associated meanings and I find the associated meaning with the word ****** pointless. Yes, it used to be racially charged, still is to some extent. Like all other words that have negative usages, unless it is being used to be offensive, it's not. That and the black American (not African-American unless they have lived in Africa) community has allowed it, to some extent, persist as a normally accepted word.

The Longs Story Short: It's only offensive when it's meant to be offensive, just like all the other racial "slurs"

**** is my second word of choice, after twat, but ****** is probably more offensive.
However, I'm from Utah. I have no idea how offensive people might take it in other places, because the black population here is like, my friend Rendell and this one substitute teacher named Bobby. Point is, nobody here has been killed over it. I exaggerate how offensive it is in my mind because I know how I perceive it personally probably isn't accurate.

I think it all depends on situation and context so neither word is good nore bad.

Although I am still not 100% what this C word is the ones I am thinking about are not all that bad, or atleast in my eyes.
