Haha and come to think of it, my cat sometimes closes her mouth with her tongue still poking out. When I grab her tongue she always acts embarrassed (or maybe just scared about me stealing her tongue).

Its fear, every human action is driven by fear, the fear of being alone, the fear of not passing an exam, fear of how you appear to others, fear of the future, fear of the past. Everything is driven by it in all cultures and society's people are afraid of something.

I'd say stupidity, but seeing as how it isn't an option I'll take fear, seeing as how fear is the more consistent and universal of the two

Hate, I would argue, is an effect of fear. The phrase 'people hate what they fear' is pretty apt when you look at history, especially politics.
