To be accurate, Lord of the Rings is one book divided into 6 parts. The publishing company that originally released it thought it would sell better that way.BakaMick said:Isn't that what a Trilogy is though, would you say that The Matrix films where a single film and a Duology because there is a time skip.Boxpopper said:Very good point.sm0kybac0n said:I'm not going to read through 5 pages just so I can see if this has been said:
The Lord of the Rings isn't a Trilogy, it is one book divided into three parts, and the film is supposedly the same. Sure you can buy them separately, but they are all one story.
Straight out of a dictionary: "Trilogy: A collection of three mediums in one. A three-part series"
It does if Lord of the Rings does.Boxpopper said:What? Weren't there like, 5 or 6 books in that series? That doesn't count.notoriouslynx said:The Hitchhiker's Trilogy

They are:sheic99 said:I probably should have picked up on that sooner. I was just assuming that you didn't like the last 2 books.AhumbleKnight said:... I would vote for 'Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy' as THE trilogy if i can include books.
1) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
2) The Restaurant at the End of the Universe
3) Life, the Universe and Everything
4) So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish "a trilogy in four parts"
5) Mostly Harmless "The fifth book in the increasingly inaccurately named Hitchhiker's Trilogy"
6) And Another Thing... not released yet and not written by Adams
