Ah man, I though the same. My answer would have been steel by the way, since it was one of the reasons the Romans triumphed over the Gauls.

Iron Man 3. It had it's flaws but it was not so deeply flawed as Man of Steel.
You know, I don't mind the symbolism inherent in the Superman story-line, but please don't beat me over the head with it.
During the "stained glass" scene (anyone who's seen the movie knows the scene I mean) I was like "Ok, and next the military will grab Pete Ross and say 'You know him don't you!' and Pete will deny it three times, then a rooster will crow and Pete will burst into tears, right?".
Aaand
Also, why put so much effort in to making Zod an antagonist--not a *villain*, an *antagonist*--who could be sympathized with only to have him turn into a total jackass at the end?
We're going to slaughter the billions of people living on this planet instead of getting in our spaceship and flying to some other suitable planet! Why? Because it's *convenient*!"
"I'm going to provoke you in to killing me by trying to kill these innocent people! Why yes, I *could* just kill them by
looking from the corner of my eye, but *really* using my eyeballs is *beneath* me!"
And seriously, Kal/Clark grew up in America, he knows who Mike Tyson is...he couldn't just bite Zod's ear?

So yeah, my vote is for Iron Man 3, though I'm really pinning my hopes on Thor & Cap.....

I went into this thread very confused. Steel, duh. Why is this even a poll? And then I discovered the magic of reading.

Definitely Man of Steel, though due more to how awful Iron Man 3 was than Man of Steel's quality. Robert Downey Jr. is always great, the twist was cool and the Stark's jokes tended to be pretty funny, but nothing else was going for the movie. The whole series has in fact had a problem with really dull villains that have intentions which often make it feel like very little is actually at stake. Man of Steel on the other hand was a perfectly watchable film. Overly serious and with an absolutely nonsense romantic subplot, plus something else I shall spoiler below but an enjoyable enough watch other than that.

<spoiler= Other thing>Clark lets his father die to protect his identity? Even with them pushing the 'the world isn't ready for superman' point, that still makes Clark come across as quite an asshole.

Did you watch that scene? It was Pa Kent that deliberately signaled Clark not to save him, it wasn't Clark being an asshole.

Also, I'm glad I fooled so many of you with this thread title :D

Well there goes my spoiler. Anyways, yes I saw that, I just don't think that was reason enough to let his father die. I mean I certainly wouldn't let my dad die just because he believed it was for my own good

Gotta go with Iron Man 3 on this one. No contest.

I did not like Man of Steel. A Super Man who punches people through buildings for 50% of his movie (without worrying about all the people he's crushing while doing so) is a Super Man I don't care to see.

My vote goes to Man of Steel. I really didn't care for Iron Man 3, that twist in particular. I'd watch it again but for Tony Stark's last solo outing I'll admit I expected a little more.

Personally I really don't have the same problems with Man of Steel, I don't need any character development or back story when it comes to comic book heroes and villains, I project everything I already know about them onto them.

To me it's like watching the 1000th+ movie in the series. When they do go over back story again it kind of seems pointless to me.

All I really want is a villain, a hero, a good plot and then lots of good looking action whilst they carry out said plot.

Kind of why I think The Dark Knight was the best comic book movie so far. They had already gotten all the Batman development and back story out of the way in the first film and they did not try to explain the Joker at all. They just made it clear from the start it was Batman vs Joker and let the characters do what they do.

That's your reasoning? Come on! Anyone who's ever played a fantasy RPG knows that steel is harder than iron! xD

Ironman 3 works as a chapter to the upcoming Avengers 2 so you should see it anyway even if you think it sucks or don't quite like Ironman or Robert Downy Jr.

Man of Steel is a wonderful look at Superman as a human versus a movie about Clark Kent who sneaks off to save the day.
I found the scene where Clark first starts/learns to fly a little silly and more Spiderman-esque when he first web-slung. The grin was too "I'm getting laid at 17" look on his face.

As a single movie, I'd recommend Man of Steel. It doesn't grind your teeth with the origin aspect as much as other superhero movies start off. Lois doesn't get much time but it's not a movie called Lois Lane. She's literally just the plot-device she's always been but has as much of a role as to not seem to be there because that's her only role in the movie.

Ooooooooh. I saw the title of this thread and assumed it was about the chemical properties of iron and steel. Well I haven't seen either of the films, but I've heard that Iron Man is pretty good and Man of Steel is kinda meh, but this was just from one guy...who's opinion I don't trust...move along...
