Poll: Which Mario game should I get my aunt?

My aunt's birthday is coming up, she just got a wii and wiisports (along with fit and resort)

Im going to get her a Mario game whether she wants it or not, which one should I get for her?

I'd get her Super Mario Galaxy 1 or 2. Both are excellent games with a fairly low learning curve.

Forget 3D Marios unless she has experience playing 3D games. Get her one of the Super Mario Bros games (1,2,3,New,Wii).

Get her New Super Mario Bros. Wii. If she's new to video gaming, stick to 2D or 2.5D games. Galaxy might be a bit out of her reach for the moment.

Alternately, get her Animal Crossing: City Folk. My mother and my aunts seem to enjoy that game.

There is a Super Princess Peach, but it's DS exclusive.

OT:New Super Mario Bros. for sure. If she's like most people's aunts/grandparents/parents who just bought a Wii then the whole three dimensions thing will probably confound her. Plus then you can actually play the game with her and show her the ropes.

From the way it sounds, you are the one that wants a Mario game, probably for when you visit her.

If your aunt is anything like my mom, get a 2D Mario game, get some of the classics off virtual console.

My mom, as soon as games went to 3D worlds, she stopped playing. Her complaint was that new games now feel like a maze, and she gets lost.

I never got it, she can navigate real life, and can remember directions fully maybe once or twice after she has been somewhere, but a 3D world in a game is a maze to her

I have the first Mario Galaxy game, it was pretty fun, though I haven't picked it up since I beat it, not even to complete getting all the items and things.

Since it sounds like your aunt is really new to gaming, I wouldn't get one of the Galaxy games, or a beginner they are crazy. I don't really know how to describe it, but Galaxy is more 3D than any 3D game.

New Super Mario Bros Wii, for sure. As others have pointed out, trying to navigate a three-dimensional space for the first time is hard enough without Mario Galaxy throwing circumnavigation in there. You should keep it simple, and NSMBW is the epitome of this; walk to the right, occasionally jump.
