Which Mass Effect 3 "Ending" will you accept? If you had to choose one, which one would you choose, and why?

Control?
Synthesis?
Destroy?

I would choose Synthesis, as it is the most humane option, given Legion and his Geth. Although I hate synthetics.

My renegade, "Humans are superior" Shepard would choose destroy.

I chose Synthesis because if I'm gonna screw everyone over I'm gonna do it equally! That's pretty much my reasoning.

If I had to accept one of those, the only one would be Destroy. The other two endings basically sum up The Illusive Man and Saren, two of the games villains.
Of course, I am still going with the entire ending being a laser beam to the face induced hallucination caused by indoctrination!

I chose Control, since it seemed to be the best choice for everyone in the galaxy (Citadel survives, Reapers can be used to rebuild FTL travel capabilities, etc.)

...

Then I read about the Indoctrination Theory. I feel kinda bad now...

I initially chose Synthesis, but if I could do it again I would choose Destroy. I was about to choose Destroy but the guilt I was feeling was eating me up inside. After fighting so hard to promote peaceful relations between geth and quarian I couldn't do it. It may have been the right choice overall, but I couldn't massacre the people that my bud Legion gave his life to protect.

Now that I have a more clear mind and having read the Indoctrination Theory, I would choose Destroy in a heartbeat.

The ending sequence starts out the same way as it originally did. Shepard is hit by Harbinger's beam, and wakes up in the rubble. His armor is blackened, nearly destroyed, and it's obvious that Shepard himself won't live much longer with his injuries.

Despite this, he continues to advance towards the transport beam, limping with every step. But this time, instead of fighting Marauder Shields, a series of flashbacks play through his head.

He relives Virmire, Ilos, the Collector base, the invasion of Earth. He relives his entire experience with the Reapers, and things begin to become clear:

"Confidence born of ignorance. The cycle cannot be broken."

"The cycle must continue. There is no alternative."

"Cycle"

"Cycle"

And it all becomes clear.

With an expression of grim determination, Shepard makes it to the transport beam, and blacks out.

He wakes up in a dark room, one that he's never seen before. The only thing he can see is a hunchbacked figure, peering over his prone frame.

"You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?"

I choose let Marauder Shields kill me then turn off the game. Being killed by some mook at the last minute is fitting in a strange way. Or maybe that's just me.

The one I made up in my head. Seriously, I finished the game last week for the second time. I quit after I killed Marauder Shields, and then the rest is my own story.

Destruction is the least terrible. Synthesis is the worst (because it's the silliest). Control would be a cartoonishly evil Shepard, I guess.

Who is the hunched back figure? After re-watching the starwars trilogy all I can think of is Yoda saying "Met a terrible fate have you not?"
OT: Everything up to getting lifted up Shepard watches after activating the crucible. The crucble fires vaporizing all the Reapers yay you have broken the cycle but only if you have like 4000+ points if you have 2500-4000 you broke the cycle but at the cost of the current generation you have saved the universe but not yourselves. Anything below 2500 your fleet died Reapers win you suck.

I choose destroy because it's obvious that starchild is either lying through his teeth or has no clue wht he's talking about.

Besides, EDI apparantly lives, so presumably the Geth would too. No downside, really.

It was a reference to Majora's Mask.

The implication was that Shepard was transplanted into the Majora's Mask universe, thus setting in motion a series of wacky misadventures soon to be chronicled in my totally legitimate fan-novel The Legend of Zelda: Affection of Mass.

Notable cameos include Joker as Tatl the fairy, Saren as the Skull Kid, and Ambassador Udina as Tingle. Coming soon to a bookstore near you, assuming that the owners of said bookstore don't find it too quickly.

I personally find it hard to ever choose destroy. I think only one of my Shepards will, and she kills everything that gets in her way. I got really attached to EDI and Legion. Hell, EDI/Joker was my secret OTP back in ME2. I was also willing to sacrifice the Quarians if I hadn't unlocked the option for peace. Which I was able to get. Which makes Destroy worse to me. So I usually choose Synthesis. Control will probably be chosen for my "scientist" shepard who was a renegon.

And I am going off my own interpretations for the ending, from what I've seen in the actual game. I await the Ending DLC to clarify my interpretations.

I believed the Star Child was talking bullshit about the Geth and EDI in Destroy in order to make it less appealing, so I promptly told him to "Fuck off, glitterboy." (paraphrased in my own headcanon) and proceeded to shoot a red pipe in which somehow destroyed the Reapers..

But the best ending is still the Marauder Shields one. I like to believe Anderson kills the Illusive Man instead in that one and proceeds to pick the Destroy option himself.

..And the EC will probably destroy (ohoh, irony!) all my headcanon with even weirder, half-assed explanations added for the ending, but nonetheless.

Destroy, because a friend told me "I didn't pick red and I regretted it. Pick red." And then I also knew that was best. I lamented EDI and Legion's... legion... a bit, but did it. I don't think I could ever choose another option. Possibly synthesis if it actually made sense. (Not that any of it does, mind you.)

Destroy
the other options aren't absolute, about anything

with synthesis, all life will be merged into a hybrid of synthetic and organic but the reapers are already like that, whose to say they'd even stop destroying everyone. also it's forcing an evolutionary change on an entire galaxy of people who never asked for it, who knows what flaws come with it

with control i'm to understand that Shepard's brain is melted down and becomes the central processor for the Reaper collective, thing is, can you imagine a human mind being transported into the body of an entire army of reapers for him/her to live in for the rest of eternity, it's maddening as in it actually sounds like something that would drive a mind insane, and i don't want an insane person in control of the army. then again if i could choose exactly what Shepard does with the reapers i'd have him take control, fix the relays and then send all of the reapers flying into the nearest sun, destroying them all.

so i choose destroy, yeah it destroys some vital technology as well as the geth and EDI, but at least it straight up destroys the reapers, without compromise, mercy or any amount of unknowns. the reapers ARE dead, no one left standing will ever have to worry about them ever again.
