I just had this sudden urge to play an MMORPG. I have tried in the past, but got bored quickly.

No need to ask about what I like, or what I prefer or whatever. Just give me your opinion. I don't I can get addicted. I have enough sense to not play a game longer than I should. I know my limits. Plus, the computer is hogged too much for me to use the computer anymore than five hours a day anyway.

Yes, I know plenty o' the games in the poll hasn't even be released yet. But that's the point. I plan on playing newly released MMORPGS. But yes WoW is old.

Also tell me which one of those three you're likely to be playing!

EDIT: Right now I'm leaning towards SW:TOR because, well, it's fuckin' Bioware!

Wait for TOR, and if not that, then wait for Cataclysm, but try and go with TOR, because as you put it, it's Bioware!

I'll be playing Guild Wars, cause it's very easy on your computer (You don't need a gaming PC or anything... though I don't think you'll really need one for the other two either.)

WoW, I really don't feel like dedicating my entire life to the game, so I'd be yelled at for being a noob if I played that. (Plus, monthly fees can kiss my @$$)

TOR looks really good, and I'll probably play it if I get the chance, but if you want the classic MMO feel, these aren't the droids you're looking for.
I've always felt lightsabers and blasters feel awkward in MMOs, though Star Wars is pretty awesome, and is the most unique out of all three.

Overall, if you don't want to dedicate your life to the MMO, but you still want the medieval MMO feel, go for Guild Wars. If you're looking for something more unique and sci-fi, go for TOR.

Love the replies so far.

Yeah, I get that thing about WoW. It's kind of like CoD, where CoD is the king of shooters (Go away, Halo fans). Both have something in common, angry people and hated a whole lot.

Doesn't really matter to me though.

Get WoWs 10 day trial.

It's a really solid game, and will last you a long time if you take a liking to it.

Go WoW. I was in your situation too and really wanted to give an MMO a go. With WoW I picked it up easily enough and have been having a great time ever since! Plus, SWTOR probably won't be released for quite a while.

I would also suggest you wait. Bioware always delivers.
I suppose I should. I will try out the 10 day trial though. Anyone know if Guild Wars 2 will have a subscription fee? Because I know the other two does.

both WoW and GW are amazing games, I would recommend waiting for Cataclysm to come out if you're going to play WoW, otherwise, get GW! It's a great game you'll probably enjoy for a while!

I say WoW because it is really fun if you get into a nice guild. Cataclysm looks promising as well. If your not already playing it i advise waiting for Cata to come out.

I thought Guild Wars was crap. I have no faith for the sequel. From what i have seen its just going for the "were prettier then WoW!" angle that worked OH so well for Aion.

For ToR I am waiting for the beta before i make any judgment. Mostly because I am likely going to hate it. Because it's going to be nothing like what Galaxies was before it got corn holed to be more like WoW.

I miss Galaxies...

*A long wistful gaze as he remembers the Only MMO he ever truly loved*

FFXIV might be what I am looking for to finally replace the wound Galaxies left in my heart. I remain cynical though.

What is this Cataclysm thing you guys are talking about? Is it another expansion for WoW?

Try Champions, its a super hero mmo I've only played a few of them but i definitely enjoyed this one the most its has real time action oriented gameplay(Think X-men legends) it looks good if your rig can handle and once you reach a certain lvl you get to create a nemesis for your character that you will encounter several times throughout the game. They're many other things i like about it but will shut up now.

So yeah man Champions online me and my friends like it a lot.(15 bucks a month is a little steep though)

I'd recommend trying WoW's ten-day trial, and then waiting to make a decision. As far as I can tell, the trial's kinda limited, but it's probably an okay introduction (I wouldn't know, I leaped right in).

If it's underwhelming, I'd wait for either The Old Republic or WoW: Cataclysm.

...well, personally I would recommend City of Heroes, but I understand what you're asking.

As much as people love to hate on WoW, there's no denying that it has by far the most content and best overall design of any current MMO. Cataclysm looks pretty great too. With that being said, WoW definitely isn't for everyone. It does have a fairly large minimum time investment if you want your characters to stay relevant. It's a whole lot better than it used to be though. You can do all of the current tier content in under 6 hours a week if you want.

If not WoW, then TOR looks really good. BioWare is exactly like Blizzard in a sense, neither company has ever made a less-than-incredible game.

Its an expansion for WoW that is pretty much WoW 2.

They are giving the original game, levels 1-60, a major overhaul. Huge terrain changes to a number of the zones, as well as changing the Talent trees to be more customizable.
