Oblivion by far for me.

I have problems with both of the games, but i've gotten the most fun out of Oblivion.
The nature/fantasy setting does it for me much more than Fallouts brown wasteland. And gameplay-wise i prefer Oblivions nice and simple guild set-up.

Oblivion. I have the same issue with all the greys of Fallout 3. It's a great game, don't get me wrong, but I dunno... I guess I am sick of the whole nuclear winter, post-apocolypse setting. I'm also not sure that the engine really suited the FPS elements. It felt as though it were built for Oblivion and adapted for Fallout 3.

As somebody else said, Oblivion's world felt truly epic. I must have dumped over 200 hours into that game.

Not really fair comparison for me since I use 200+ mods with Oblivion, whereas I only ever played vanilla Fallout - so Oblivion wins quite handily indeed. Fallout 3 wasn't a bad game, but it unfortunately didn't come close to living up to its predecessors.

Both games are good with excellent story and game-play but I like Oblivion more just because of where it takes place. The houses in Oblivion look really cozy and I find myself wanting to own a home just like one. I always kind of had a desire to like fantasy type settings and places.
Agreed I've always wanted to be an owner of the Merchant Inn in Imperial City. At night all the merchants goes to the inn, it's kind of fun, for me.
The place I like the most in Oblivion is the Blades HQ. The fireplace, the dining hall, and the sleeping quarters look very cozy. In Dragon Age: Origins Orzammar is the place where I would like live the most. It would be safe from storms and some of the places like the tavern look cozy as well.

Both are good games, but objectively if I were to balance out the time spent on both I'd have to go with Fallout 3.

Less-broken leveling system, more interesting setting, NPC's that while still pretty bad aren't quite as immersion breaking, etc.

"IT CAME FROM THE UNCANNY VALLEY!!! indeed.

Both of them however suffer from god awful writing and a disturbing lack of NPC's I give two shits about any further than my general compulsion to not kill 'innocents,' which is the biggest reason why they're both merely 'good' rather than 'GREAT' in my book.

And yes, I know mods fix a lot of those problems. That doesn't win the developer any credit though.

Fallout 3. It took Oblivion's formula and made it post-apocalyptic. Fallout 3 was also more immersive.

I gotta go with Fallout 3. Oblivion really botched quite a few game mechanics, and Bethesda addressed these issues in Fallout 3, making it a more enjoyable and immersive gaming experience (the whole levelling loot/monster thing, the barter system, etc).

Plus, I reckon you've got to consider how each game fitted into their respective series. Following on from the very high standards set by the previous 3 Elder Scrolls games, Oblivion was a bit of a let-down - whereas Fallout 3 was a welcome, fresh, and above all worthy addition to the Fallout series. That having been said, (and I really hope I'm proved wrong) New Vegas just looks like more of the same.

I like Oblivion.
Fallout 3 was just boring, in my opinion, and everything was just so bland. I can go on and on about how much I dislike this game and why, but I won't. I've expressed my opinion about this game many times.

oblivion because it wasn't ALL grey, bleak wasteland, which just got boring after a while. I mean there just weren't enough different colours in Fallout for me.

It pains me to have to go with Fallout. It was just that much better. In fact, it's one of my favourite games. I'm an absolute sucker for everything medieval though, which is why it's kinda sad for me to have to side with Fallout. Both were brilliant games, though.

Well, I got Fallout 3 first, and loved it. Then I got Oblivion and tried to love it equally but I just can't. I despise the leveling system, I keep leveling up and getting my arse handed to me by a troll. Fallout may be glitcher in my experience, but I prefer it.

I went with Oblivion. I love that game and can't wait for the next one to come out. Fallout 3 was fun, but I got kind of bored with it quickly. And I didn't care for the ending, and by that I mean I didn't like how it was a very definitive ending. It pissed me off that you couldn't go back and play anymore from the same save file afterwords.

OT: Fallout 3. I preferred the setting and environments.
I chose the other, but for the same reason... Don't get me wrong, I played the shit out of Fallout 3 (Probably more), and that might be the problem... I had one character in Oblivion, loved it so much that I couldn't make another... Had almost the same problem with Morrowind...
I'm glad that wasn't one of the choices... I really couldn't decide then...

Fallout by far. Oblivion leveling was retarded, and the settings and dungeons were so generic they might have been automatically generated. Fallout has a lot more charm and every location was special in its own way, making exploration interesting...
