First gen, I would really like to see a DS version of Pokemon Blue.
For nostalgia's sake.

3rd gen, my first game was pokemon Colisseum and I went into it cold too. Didn't even know it was an rpg. I thought it was okay, I mean I have black and play competitively sometimes. On a side note does anyone feel that they can identify a pokemon's generation by its art style? I remember playing emerald and seeing pokemon from first generation that they brought over like geodude and machop and thinking "why don't these quite fit?"

I was a little kid at the time. I used to spend hours with my GameBoy (the original, brick-ish one), even though I only had two games for it.
My aunt was getting married, and to keep me quiet during the ceremony, my parents got me Pokemon: Blue Version. I was hooked. Went out and bought Yellow when it came out. And then the same with Gold, and then Crystal.
Honestly, I think the series peaked with Gen 2: It wasn't the broken mess that 1 was, but they also hadn't started running out of ideas yet (An ice cream cone Pokemon? Really?) I got Sapphire as well, but I hated Diamond so much for some unexplainable reason... Ended up getting rid of it after a paltry two hours of playtime. I haven't bought a single Pokemon anything since.

I started off with the first generation, good ol' Red and Blue.

Unfortunately this means I've been forever doomed to own at least one game from each generation to follow since.

However I really became rather happy with the latest generation. I mean the whole "Hey look there are actual deeper story elements to this game besides the usual go and curb stomp our country's version of Team Rocket."

As a wee lad I sarted off witha GB pocket and blue version. Eventually had to have Red too. Upgradedto a gameboy colour after that then had a dry period, probably from sinking 300+ hours into them both. missed n silver and gold, glad i did because I got crystal, to this day stil my favourite version. Tried Ruby on the advance but Pokemon didnt feel like pokemon anymore... was a number of years before I got all nostalgic and bought a GB Advance SP and all the remakes games, a little confused as to why they looked better yet lacked the classic animations of crystal. Wasnt until another couple of years I got a DS light off ey with a bunch of games for a bargain, to which in that bundle contained heart gold and pearl. I played the shit outta HG, until I released Pokemon had lost its way. It now was nye immpossible to even finish them or complete the pokedex without owning EVERY other game or attending random events, gameplay snt a challenge anymore and you were restricted in your ctomisation options, pokemon themselves didnt resemble classic creatures/monsters anymore, seems that they had just run out of ideas after GEN 2 when I saw that evey other monster was just a geometrical shape of stupid colours, a set of eyes and maybe a dumb grin. Stand a Gen 5 against a Gen 1 or 2 and they just dont match up. I wont attribute age to inflencing my desicion, it was obvious. Gen 2 was my favourite, Crystal as my favourite and Pokemon never got better from that point on.

I started out on Blue and played every single one after. I still go back and play most of them every once in a while.

I started with Blue. I never beat it because sadly some people broke into my house and stole it since my gameboy was right in the open. Luckily they were either nice enough, or stupid enough to leave my Xbox, and they also left a trail of stuff they stole.

Definately the first... I got it before going on a School trip to Germany... There was an 18 hour bus ride, so my parents got me Pokemon Blue before I went!

Best bus ride ever! 18 hours of the new pokemon game that everyone was raving about (pre cards as well!), on a Gameboy Classic! Those were the days! I remember having a metric fuck-ton on batteries as well!

The best part was there were 3 other people who had just got it too, and a few more who allready had it! Link cables attached we traded like there was no tomorrow! It was like having a little business set up! Especially for the 1 guy who had Red, who just stockpiled Ekans and Weedles and the other exclusives... Seriously though, about 9 of us had the game there, and only one had Red! Maybe it was because we were a heavily Conservative supporting area, with Tory as the number one, Lib Dem as 2 and Labour barely get any votes!

1st, though that doesn't mean it is the best. I like Gen 3 the most, to be honest. I probably spent the most time playing Ruby, with HeartGold in a close second

I've heard a lot of people say that and still don't understand why an ice cream monster or a garbage monster is considered all that unimaginative since we've had a pile of sludge, a magnet, a ball, a ghost ball, a toxic gas ball, a tangle of vines, and a bunch of eggs since gen 1.

Not to mention like 85% of pokemon are (and have always been) just a recolored animal with a puny name.

I'm not saying either the ice cream or garbage things are great designs, I'm just wondering why this is a big criticism all of a sudden, and not been all along.

Generation 1, Pokemon Yellow.

My very first one, I didn't complete it though, I did get Pokemon Blue and complete it...with a lvl 105 Blastoise...Bwhahaha, I demolished the Elite 4.

Then I played quite a few until I got to the best one, Pokemon Ruby, I insanely loved that game to the bottom of my heart, it had the best Pokemon story (For me at least), good areas...and well, it was generally good.

Frankly my top three would be, Ruby, Gold and either Blue, yellow or one of the newer ones.

First game I played was Pokemon Blue way back when. That is still my favorite Pokemon game to this day. Was into the anime at that point as well. Don't think I ever saw past the third gen of Pokemon in the anime.

First gen. I remember getting Yellow for my birthday and played the hell out of it on my Aqua-colored Game Boy Color. I was such a fan back in the day that Gold Version was the first game I ever pre-ordered. Those were the days...

I've played every generation except for Diamond and Pearl, and Pokemon Black made me feel like a kid again. :)

Blue. Then yellow. Skipped all others until diamond (didn't have a gba). Got pearl and white on DS. Think my GB still works.

Even though I'm probably one of the younger members here (16) I started on Gen 1. It took up a large chunk of my childhood and I liked it from day 1 to this very day. I've never stopped liking Pokemon since it was first released.

Gen 1. Pokemon Red version. Though Gen 2 was the one that stuck for me. It had so much more that I loved.
