Started on Blue, and moved onto Silver when they first came out, while my brother played Red and Gold (cooperative childhood all the way!).

Gave the series a break to move onto other platforms, before eventually coming back to Black recently, though haven't been able to get into it myself just yet: time will tell if I give it another shot.

Started on Yellow that I borrowed off my best friend. It was like crack. I didn't give it back for two years.

Honestly I'm waiting for a Pokémon gam that start in Kanto and lets you travel through every region and lets you keep your Pokémon after you beat the elite four.

1st gen. I remember getting Blue for christmas, and quite honestly that was my hook into videogames. Since then, I played all the way up through ruby/saphire, and then kind of let go of pokemon, just don't really handheld game anymore. A shame too, but i still fondly remember my pokemon games of yore, and if i were to get another handheld (a 3DS most likely)..then pokemon would be the first thing i would pick up.

First generation.

A lot of the Pokemon designs were terrible and the game was more simplistic, but that's what you get. Back then it was a damn good game anyway, because there was nothing else to compare it to.

My favorite would probably be 2nd or 3rd gen. 4th was a bit meh, even if it did have some awesome new Mans. 5th gen I haven't played but the designs are getting close to the level of terrible the first generation had. Garbage and ice cream cones. I think 3rd gen would be my #1 because of what it added that later games took away. I loved the underground bases. :)

My first Pokémon game was Pokémon yellow for the Gameboy colour. Sweet, sweet days. I got it free with a limited edition pikachu gameboy.

I started and finished with the first when it came out, Blue specifically. It seemed like a lot of fun at the time, but I find it unplayable now. I've tried playing the second and third generation more recently (in the past couple years, so after they were already pretty old), but I just can't get into them at all.

Played Pokemon Blue way back in 99 and played all the rest since. My personal favourite being Gen 2 and I hate Gen 5.

I have to say I am actually surprised the numbers for gens after 2 are as high as they are given the age of people on this site. I started on the First gen Pokemon Red.

I started off at gen 3 with Pokemon Ruby Version as a holiday gift. However, I do remember my friends playing Gen 2 when I was only 4 or 5 years old. I also remember playing a Gen 2 game at my cousin's house around the same age, so I guess you could count either Gen 2 or gen 3, though Gen 3 was the first one I owned and extensively played. Later on I got an old copy of Pokemon Blue only to get lost on Victory Road since I never could figure out where Flash was. >_>

Oh, and I have played Gen 1-4. Can't be bothered with Gen 5. Those names are killing me. :p

I've been with it since 1st generation. For a long time 2nd was my favorite, and the series sort of declined after that, culminating in the doldrums of 4th gen, which was extremely mediocre. Nevertheless, they brought things rocketing back up with 5th gen, which is now my favorite, with Heartgold coming in a very close second.

Silver version. 2nd Gen. Because somehow I hadn't even known a game for Pokemon existed then. Kinda glad I didn't, if I'd asked for the Gamboy I would have never gotten the GBC anytime soon. Though it hardly would have mattered, as I found out I was able to play Silver on an old Gameboy, just without color. After beating Silver a few times I got my hands on a copy of RED.

Played every single generation since.

Still hated 4th Gen, though. Never touching that shit again.
Literally the exact same thing with me. Silver was my first pokemon game and red was my second. And I too have played every generation since.

I'm not really sure actually... but I think my first generation was the Second Generation, Johto. But there's a possibility I played the first aswell but I don't have any memories of playing the originals apart from the remakes of them later. I've played every main pokemon game after aswell, apart from the recent new ones, Black and White.

Pokemon Blue. I remember because I was always jealous of red owners for having exclusive access to my favourite pokemon (such as Arbok).

I started with the pokemon cards, It was so popular that it ended up getting banned at school. I love pokemon so much! I have played every game but soul silver/heart gold and black/white. I must pick them up
