Engineers. That way when the update comes they're wont be as much spam from a class like with pyros and scout.
You're kidding right? Thats what I thought about the medic update but then I still played on matches with 13 medics on each team.
Yea, but at least with engineers, they're kind enough to stay in one place for spies and demomen.

I am fairly certain they would have to update the Imagineer and Demoman simeltaneously like they did with the spy and sniper in order to keep balance.

I think a replacement to the engies shotgun, a so called "Spy gun", automatically disables and clocked spies/ costumed ones in the area. Maybe have it like the baseball with a long re-fueling time, or have it like a normal gun but it does no damage but unclocks them(allowing the sentry to take care of them)

But soldiers and demomen should be first, I love the idea of the stickie grenades on a person, say A friendly ubered heavy? hehe.

I don't know what they could do for the Engineer. However, I would like to see a Demoman update where you unlock sticky grenades that can be shot onto people. Imagine it... sticking your heavy with all 8 grenades, Ubering Him and having him run into the enemy base. Hilarity would ensue.
Oh God, please say Valve does this. I remember fondly throwing remote mines on teammates in Timesplitters 2 for them to charge into a group of enemies, and I would love to do that in TF2.

I voted soldier, although I can see why they haven't updated him yet. That would be probably the hardest update to keep balanced, IMO.

Demoman and Engineer would be easier to update, but I can't think of anything I would want changed.

As a few have said before me, they should probably update all 3 together, so it can keep balanced and have the "LOLOL I WNAT ACHIEVEEMENTS!!!!!" crowd neatly spread out over the 3 classes.

Demoman definitely, you really need to be very experienced to play demoman to any effective level. He really is the "fireman" of a map, as he is so useful for flushing out campers but in most one-on-one engagements he is at an incredible disadvantage as it is too easy to dodge his grenades and get in close where the demoman is forced to use the woefully inadequate bottle to melee himself out.

My idea is some kind of sticky bomb as a melee weapon, stick it to an opposing player and will not cause any damage till it ticks down like the pyro flame. The "ticker" could be the player's ammo count, so they can extend their time till their destruction by picking up ammo and no spending any of their own. To release it they must either go to their resupply, dispenser or get team mate to melee it off yet getting close could draw them into the explosion.

On the other hand, they could go kamikaze and run into the enemy base. It would certainly make the game more interesting and certainly make people think twice before trying to get into close quarters with a demoman.

I tried it when I first got TF2 and was disappointed that it didn't work. Here's to hoping.

Personally, I would love to see the Demo get an update.

On the other hand I am really curious as to what Valve has in store for the Engineer...

Engineer all the way! Mostly because it is my favorite class however.

All of those combined thank you very much, in a nice "Destruction VS Construction" themed patch.
What if the Engineer had an Anti-missile sentry?
It'd shoot down any projectile weapons in air, but would have extremely limited anti-personal weapons.

Engineer.

Ever since I got my Mining Light a while back I've been playing nothing but Offensive Engie. Even GOT A SMALL "SQUAD" OF "FUN-GINEERS" who would help me out.

Good times. Now I want the oil baron-esque white cowboy hat. Everything will then be complete.

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

Heh.
EDIT: Lost my train of thought...

I really want the Engie to be next simply because I'm curious as to what Valve will think of.

Maybe a tiny robotic dog that follows you around and dispenses metal for you? I'd be sad when he asploded though...

Something like jumpads would be sweet though, and I could see 'em fitting in the TF2 universe.

And if he doesn't get his railgun pistol thingie back, then give him a Winchester! It's brilliant!

Engineers are slow and boring to play. Everything takes ages to build, and there's nothing you can do after plopping down your stuff except wank with your wrench behind a sentry, which makes no difference between a great and mediocre engineer. They are in dire need of an update that makes them a more active, mobile and reactive (even if still defensive) class.

I'd like to see Soldier's update, too, but they are one of the most solid classes in the game already.
Dude, learn to play Engi. The Engineer has the most powerful melee weapon in the game, highest crit chance with the Shotgun, and a Pistol. Try playing Battle Engi for a few rounds; run forward with the group, drop dispensers just behind the front line (for your team to heal up at), and plop a sentry in a halfway decent place and protect it using your shotgun. You will fuck shit up, provided you do it right.

Never say that there is no difference between a great engineer and a mediocre engineer. That is false, misinformed, and mildly irritating. A battle engi can be ten times more useful to an offensive team than an idiot who sits behind his sentry holding the Mouse1 button. It's all a matter of how you play; I play Engi that is almost the antithesis of how Engi is supposed to be played, and I easily get 4-5 kills a life, not including the points I get from teleporters and dispenser healing.

@TOPIC

Soldier. I want a shovel that reflects rockets, dammit.

PS Engineer is getting a wrench that builds level one objects extremely fast, sgs/dispensers etc, but can't upgrade them. It's in the beta atm, same as heavy being able to go pyro speed with melee out.
Pics or it didn't happen. I can see the Engi thing working (In fact, I'd love that for offensive engineering), but No. Heavy should not go faster with his melee weapon out, it'd be gamebreaking; maybe Soldier speed, but by no means as fast as the 3rd fastest class in the game. The Heavy's main weakness is how immobile he is, take that away, and all you have is a fast-moving wall of meat.

Soldier is the only class ingame that requires some form of skill next to the spy, and an update just might ruin that. On the other hand, I foresee;

Remote Controlled Rockets
Rockets that dont damage you as you R-Jump
Flame Rockets (like the pyro had in the original)
Which Team Fortress 2 have you been playing? The Scout is just as hard, if not harder, than Soldiering, playing a non-sticky camping Demo is definitely harder...

You're kidding, right? Spy takes a bare minimum of skill beyond "Cloak move wait for right moment uncloak stab sap", especially after the launch of the C&D. The problem is that most people don't realize that you need to wait for the right moment; that's where this illusion that Spy requires the most finesse comes in.

It shouldn't influence gameplay at all, if a heavy is running around with the KGB out, then either he's going to mid or the other team is pretty terrible. The main problem with heavy was that in competetive games, you never got to mid in time to actually make a difference, this will change it. It won't influence anything during the actual fights, Heavies always have shotgun or minigun out, but it will allow heavies not to lag behind when you're pushing and everybody is down or if you just need to catch up with your team. The fact is, he'll still get spammed to death during matches, his weaknesses are still there. It's just that it means it's a 6v6 rather than a 5v6 for a time.

It's a stupid mechanic, Soldiers = slow, they can rocket jump. Demos = relatively slow, then can sticky jump. Heavy just gets rediculously outrun/jumped and it's a weakness which is too stupid. The other weaknesses, for example that he can't dodge spam and is highly vulnerable when his minigun is out and people aren't in close > medium range are fine, but his speed when going to mid is just stupid and there's no point to it at all.

And scout is harder than soldiering, demo is most likely harder, albeit I never played demo before i went competetive on soldier so I tend to find demo quite easy to play. Scout on the otherhand is all about aiming and dodging and therefore while demo aiming is relatively simple, aside from predicting airnades. But being honest, all of the classes need skill, it's just different between them and people who whine at others about one class being more skillful than the others, aside from pyro, are just kidding themselves.

The poor soldier needs an upgrade.

Besides his crocket he's something of a toothless bulldog at the moment. Engi's can repair faster than he can fire his rockets at their buildings, he's slow, his rockets are easily avoided and despite having 200 health he isn't all that tough in practice because he can't escape.

He needs napalm rockets!
A BREN gun style Light Machine Gun would be funny as well, but to differentiate from the heavy it would need to be burst fire based. Say having 200rounds of ammunition in four 50 round magazines, but only being able to fire 15 before it overheats and has be allowed to cool down. 'More' damage than the shotgun at medium-long range, tempered by having to purposely slow down the rate of fire and a long reload.

Demoman is least in need of an upgrade, if anything he needs a huge nerf (again!), somethin along the lines of giving him two new grenade launchers (say, a homing one and an ecm one that disable cloaks/sappers/sg's/teles/dispencers/the laser charge up of the sniper) but can only carry one of his four different launchers at a time.
That would be nice.
