Or you overlooked the fact that perhaps the reason he's making this purchase to begin with is because he has vested interest in the systems games and he is simply wondering which model to buy.

The "get a *insert system* instead" comment is dumb to begin with because it's not the initial purpose of the thread. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the PSP that much, it's not for everyone, but I'm sure the OP would not start such a thread if he did not intend on getting one.

That sort of "advice" only comes off as snide and unhelpful.

So, I've also been shopping around between the different psp models over the last couple of days. I did finally decide on the psp 3000 and will probably buy one tomorrow. The hardware upgrades between the 1000 and the 3000 model; i.e. more color contrast, faster loading times, reduced screen blurring/ghosting, and longer battery life certainly validate the increased price for me.

The thing to watch for here is whether or not you have a problem with buying used items. In terms of price the used models are within $10 of each other, whereas a new psp 3000 can cost you an extra $30, enough money for 2-3 used games. So really, if you don't care about buying things used, or you don't care about $30, go with the 3000.

I would consider waiting. At least until E3, Sony may release some information on the next handheld. Nothing like dropping big bucks on a system that immediately gets outdated.

Do some research on games you want, I think you will find most on the PSN for download.. I got the Go last year and I dont regret it one bit. Its a true portable system, I dont need to carry around anything to play games on it - its all digital with a great battery life. Plus when I get home I can plug it into my TV grab a PS3 controller and play it on my TV sitting on my couch with no issues - I love it!

Now if you already had a PSP and have UMDs laying around then Id go for a 3000.. but its not even close to being as good as the Go IMO. For $30 you can buy a 16gig M2 card and have 32gigs of memory on your PSPGo and never worry about having to carry any media to play games/movies/whatever with you.
