I'm going to LOVE both! The only similarity I will draw between them is the detective aspect. In Arkham City, I can't imagine it being too different from Arkham Asylum, where you - as the world's greatest detective - had to follow chemical traces and whatnot. L.A. Noire easily trumps this, since you're actually going to NEED your own detective skills, and that includes pressing witnesses, using evidence and finding clues, patterns, m.o.'s, suspects, etc.
Both games are going to be very rich in story, both with an absence of multiplayer (thank FUCK!)
I'm personally a big fan of noir and detective stories, yet I love Batman even more. Both these games will be brilliant in their own right, but I'm looking forward to L.A. Noire more because it'll be much more of a fresh, new experience. Plus it comes out sooner. =)

I'm betting that Arkham City will end up being a better game, to me.

I'm looking forward to noire more, simply because it looks so fresh.

Arkham Asylum is made of win though, so I'll almost certainly get both.

I'm thinking that Batman will be the much better game, but Noire will likely be a more original and interesting experience. I can picture Noire ending up like Heavy Rain where some people thought it was an amazing interactive cinematic experience and others just thought it wasn't even a game.

I think Batman: Arkham City and L.A. Noire will both be good in their own ways. There is no real way to compare them until we have played them.

Since I thought Red Dead Redemption was average at best *raises flameshield* I'm going to go with Arkham City. Especially since it now has a confirmed length of around 25 hours.

EDIT: Wait, why are we comparing these games, anyways? They are nothing alike. We might as well be comparing Splinter Cell to Kirby's Epic Yarn.

I haven't played L.A. Noire, but Batman Arkham Asylum was amazing
L.A. Noire isn't out yet... But I'd back you up on Arkham Asylum being amazing. I enjoyed the fighting and the stealthing!(not a word)
But I am kind of looking more forward to L.A. Noire a bit more cause I enjoyed Red Dead Redemption with its gun shooting and sandbox robberies. and I hope L.A. Noire has multiplayer

Batman.

CLARIFYING STATEMENT. [sub]mostly to avoid mod wrath[/sub]

I really want L.A. Noire to be good it's one of the only games I've seen in a long time where it seemed like the story would be fun to go through. I mean a 1940's serial killer noire! I love that shit.
But It's by Rockstar so actually playing it is most likely going to feel like prying my fingernails up with an icepick.

As where I love Batman on his own merits and on top of that Arkham Asylum played like heaven.

But if Rockstar learns that sandbox games are more fun if moving around isn't a pain in the ass and they fix their engine L.A. Noire has my prevote
