My favorite game being(at the moment) Super Battletoads for the arcade.

Unfair Combat would be worst for this game. As Battletoads is a beat 'em up and the screen is normally full of asses to kick. It would be horrible to be stun-locked every three seconds

Edit 1: Option 6 is supposed to say: "Hackers/Cheaters(If it's multiplayer based)."

Controls, controls, controls. If the game won't even do what I tell it to, I'll never even make it to the point where any of the other things matter. A good interface and solid controls can make what would otherwise seem unfair just be challenging and possible to overcome by actually being good at the game (e.g. Super Meat Boy...not that it's my favorite game, but it's a very good example of that).

Unfair puzzles (sort of)

I'm colour-blind. Having colour based puzzles often means I can't progress past that point, unless I can guess my way through it. It becomes literally unplayable.

Controls, as my favorite game is Rock Band 3. I would like the notes to count when I hit them.

I suppose literally broken controls would ruin the game, but I don't think that bad controls would ruin a game for me.

Unfair shit pisses me off. I can't stand it so I wouldn't play a game that was unfair.

I voted for repetition, altho most of the stuff there would make a game suck.
I can just imagine how horrible Psychonauts would be if every level was exactly the same tho. One of the things that makes that game so awesome is that pretty much every new level is completely different from the last.

My favourite game is Baldur's Gate 2, if the story sucked, that would end the enjoyment immediately!

If a game really irritates me it's usually because it's lacking in the control department. If I get stuck on a game, I usually come back to it later.

Graphics are rarely a source of annoyance, unless it's wildly inaccurate hitboxes/damage areas which makes hitting/dodging stuff much more of a guessing game.

Final Fantasy 7 and repetition. What I loved about that game was all the different stuff you did besides the fights. Hell they even made fights more exciting by changing ways to beat bosses, having to split your party up or the battle Colosseum.

Love that game. But if it was the same game without ALL the extra stuff and interesting battle changes, it would not have been as memorable.

Let's see, my favourite games are Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Assassin's Creed 2, not necessarily in that order. All of them I love for their story and immersion. And all of them have at best average gameplay. I would say story, but graphics would knock AC2 down from a favourite.

I have to say, controls pretty important for me. For example, I couldn't complete Killzone 3 due to the mapping of the trigger buttons on the controller. Normally, the tigger buttons (R2 and L2) are used for shooting. It makes sense, they feel like triggers. But apparently Sony (in all their wisdom) decided to make them crouch, using R1 as shoot.

Now, seeing as I've spent the past decade or so, playing shooting games using R2 and L2 (or O in all fairness) as the shooting buttons, it threw me off somewhat to have a completely different and incompressible key-mapping idea.

Edit: I have to agree with @Richardplex, the MS and AC series are some of the best gaming series I've ever played. :3

Controls, those are what made Halo:CE so amazing back in the day, if they went that would wreck the game.

A solid story will often overcome annoying controls for me, but it has to be a really good story, or else I'll just get annoyed and move on. Repetition can sometimes break the game for me but not always. I mean, I loved Assassin's Creed and played WoW for years!

If Kotor had a crappy story, there's no way I'd ever finish it. I enjoyed the combat enough, but the story was what kept me playing.
