While Illusive Man states he's on humanity's side, we have no idea what G-man's allegiances are. But the G-man has never actively endangered Freeman, which Illusive Man has done to Shepherd. Which one is more likely to knife you in the back?

What about the mysterious stranger from fallout 3? I would call him pretty shifty too.
And I think out of those two I trust g-man more.

We have no idea about the G-man, we for all we know he could be the most trustworthy man in existence.

Probably G-Man. He just shows up randomly from time to time and forces you to do his bidding. It's entirely possible that everything that is happening is his fault.

The Illusive Man at least gave you the choice of working with him and if need be, you can always give him two fingers and go do your own thing (Not that the game lets you, but technicaly you could)

G-Man was there when the resonance cascade happened, he arranged it, therefore I do not trust him at all

I've never trusted the G-Man, why Gordon does his bidding is beyond me. At least with the Illusive Man you know what motivates him (at least, I trust his motivations to be genuine) and if he does betray you, at least it's for the greater good.

I mean if you die for the greater good then you're still dead, but it's better than furthering an alien regime taking over Earth, right?

The Illusive man is on his own side, not humanity's side. And so am I.

Unfortunately for him, those sides are not the same.

The G-Man I just don't know about. He's an enigma. But I know without a doubt that I cannot trust the Illusive man.

I like the illusive man, he is " the ends, justify the means " type of guy, and that may very well be needed in that fucked galaxy ( might be our own galaxy never asked :p )

as for the g-man... hmm... meh.. he alright I suppose :p

I don't trust the Illusive Man.
But I trust G-Man even less because I have no clue who G-Man is.

Are they different people, though?

After all, they're both making life miserable for one mister Shepard, aren't they?

If they are though? G-Man personally set the nuclear warhead that destroyed Black Mesa. The Illusive man is probably too much of a coward to do things like that himself - sending his Cerberus goons to die instead - but the G-Man actually has nothing stopping him from taking matters into his own hands.

In other words, the Illusive man can be bested through wit... The G-Man, not so easily.

The Illusive Man has an idea in mind, and he knows what he wants out of you. As long as you just follow the plan, he would gain nothing from killing you.

Since I've not played any of the Half Life games and therefor have no genuine idea what kind of character this G-Man is, I can't really say one way or another if I'd trust him. As for the Illusive Man, I sure as hell wouldn't trust him.

the Illusive Man would probably sell his own mother's soul for a few bucks.

Having said that, I trust the Illusive Man to prioritize his enemies. So while the Reapers are still a threat, I trust him. but once they're taken care of...not so much, especially if you screwed him over at mulitple points in the game like I did

The Illusive man. The Gman would never harm you, and he is why there've been this many good HL games. Keep it up, my briefcased man!

As said by OP we just really have no idea what he wants from Dr. Freeman, and he did go so far as to sell your services to an unknown person he wouldn't ordinarily even consider doing business with

I would trust the Illusive Man more, because he has a personality, and actual charisma, as well as his agenda being clearly outlined. The G-Man, well he's just creepy. And that briefcase... what's in it?
