G-Man seems to keep interesting people in pocket dimensions until such a time that he needs them to perform work for his clients.

Illusive man is a sci-fi Tony Stark on crack with a moral imperative to safeguard humanity at any cost.

I know who I'd trust more.
You really think Illusive Man is a sci-fi Tony stark? I'd say more so Nick Fury. Obviously Fury isn't a complete bastard about his manipulations unlike I-Man but he does seem to know everything & get people where he needs them. Also he rarely goes into action himself as he never really needs too. Stark on the other hand is the action guy.

OT: I'd trust I-Man because his priority is humanity. Which means he would be looking out for ME. Also he makes a point of telling Shepard (always aftewards mind) that he knew he was throwing him to the wolves but knew he could deal with the situation. It's been said already in this thread... Nobody knows what G-mans motivation is which makes him creepy & impossible to trust

Haven't played Mass Effect (stupid PS3!) so I have to vote for G-man. No wait, no I don't...
Anyway, I don't trust the G-man, but I like him, and the only real problem I have is that he has a habit of kidnaping protagonists and leaving them in a sort of "out-of-phase" world[footnote]reference anyone?, a TV-show [/footnote]. That is why I like the beginning of Half-Life 2 Episode 1, (hope everyone interested knows this by now) where the Vortigaunts breaks some of G-man's "world" and control over Gordon.
I'm still interested to see if we get to know what/who he and the 'people' he's working for is... although I might not want to know.

It's tricky as they both show traits of good guys and antagonists but I'd have to go with Illusive Man. The thing about Gman is he has never ordered the hero to give him technology that could potentially bring the universe to it's knees. Gman's role in this comes of to me as being sort of ambiguous for now while the Illusive Man has "potential secondary antagonist written all over him.

the G-Man never really lied to us, he's just doing his job. he's the HR/PR guy for "our benefactors", meaning he's the guy who talks to employees, hires guys and makes public appearances.

the illusive man lies, cheats and spies on you at every turn. atleast when the G-Man tells you something, it's the truth. even if telling you something is rare, and usually a riddle.

Nothing for Mysterious Stranger?!

G-man always appears to be serving and higher purpose. For better, so it would seem.

The Illusive Man's calm, rational voice makes everything he says seem that more believable. I wanted to hate him but couldn't. That said I know he's going to shaft me when my usefulness has expired.

The G-man is so mysterious I have no idea what he's up to, let alone who he works for or whether he's for me or against me.

Better the devil you know I guess.

I dunno, it is hard to tell because one is a fleshed out and interesting character and the other is just kind of an enigma, from what I have seen they both seem pretty self-serving with their own hidden agendas, G-Man seems more like a contractor, hiring out people who make things happen to whoever suits his agenda, Illusive man however is shown as the ultimate transhumanist, many of his motivations go untold, but there is a much deeper character there to get to understand, however his goal at the end of the day is always a pro-human message so not all that bad.

I trust G-man less because we don't know nearly anything about him as a character, he is just another factor in the half-life games, which to be honest, I didn't really find all that compelling anyway, mainly due to the main character being a mute with no means of expression and is just expected to be the hero of whatever random event has happened, who knows really?

Ah well, that is a point for another day (IE when you can make a thread/post that does not portray half life as being the pinnacle of modern gaming and not get torn apart by the PC crowd on here...)

The Illusive Man is basically a politician. He's looking out for his side, which just so happens to be on the correct side of the life or death fight. The G-Man however is a strange entity whose strange and paranormal presence has yet to be explained, as does his interest in Gordon Freeman, who he seems to be using as a proxy to conduct business for the benefit of who knows who. I'd trust the Illusive Man over the G-Man any day, at least then I could predict his next move or motives.

Illusive Man. He seems like the type that wouldn't hesitate to betray you to further his own goals.

What's with the "funny" option in the poll? It kinda skews the entire poll. The illusive man definitely, by the way. Do not trust him he has an enormous ulterior motive and you know it. G-Man seems to be just ensuring fate happens as it should, in a creepy and very, very well written manner.

The G-man... good or evil i do not know.

The illusive man... good or evil i do not know.

It's tough to say, personally i find the G-man less trustworthy because i know and understand so little about him. Whereas the illusive man, at least i know he is a man, or i think he is a man <.< I have the feeling there is something important with his eyes.

The Illusive Man of course. Never trust the guy with glowing eyes and who has an ominous background behind him whenever you see him.
