He woke up. The thing was clearly starting to wobble.

Anyway, I liked it a lot, although the action scenes could have been a tad better, the first one specifically, the rest were okay. A lot better than I expected though.

I didn't go to see it because it didn't look that interesting. Does that count?

Never saw it haha never will.
...Why not?

OT: I liked it, even though I have some massive problems with the movie, such as the films own rules completely disintegrating in the last act. It was very enjoyable to watch though.
I don't know, the trailer never sold it for me.

Didn't. Like. Inception?
HERETIC!!!!

*Ahem* All joking aside, really? I know there are people that didn't, but, I don't know, that movie has to be my favorite movie of all time. Considering that title hasn't been displaced in...11 years? Yeah. This movie over came the premiere pair of movies from my child-hood, and the only movie that has come close to de-throning it since I saw it was Equilibrium(which was another absolutely incredible movie, rent it right now if you haven't seen it yet. Shameless plugs for the win!)

It was well done with excellent special effects, but to me it seemed a little too pleased with itself. It felt like most of the time it was trying to rub its brilliance in your face.

My partner didn't like it - she said it looked like a shallow movie trying to be profound and failing. Personally, I thought it was brilliant. To each their own.

Kids didn't age, though? Why? You sorta get the impression he has been gone for quite a while?
And they just so happen to be wearing the exact same clothes, both of them. Convenient?
And how do you know it doesn't even wobble inside a dream??

OT: I absolutely loved it!! Apart from toy story 3, it was the movie I enjoyed the most this summer.

I refuse to see it. The marketing campaign was so blown-out and pompous.
That's such a ridiculous reason to not see a film. I hardly even noticed a marketing campaign though; I think I saw one trailer, and quite a few people had barely even heard of it.

OT: I thought it was brilliant. Wonderfully shot, directed and acted, and it hit the perfect balance between smart and action-y.

I know a few critics complained that the whole thing was too bound by rules (considering they were in dreams for most of the film), but I actually enjoyed that because they made sense and I could apply my own experiences to them. The kicks being a major example of that. At the end of the day it's still a Summer blockbuster, not an art house flick.

And his kids were in the same clothes and the exact same position as they were in his dream when he got back; I'd say that's more of a definitive answer than the top wobbling slightly.

They said that if it doesn't fall, it's a dream. If one of those wobbles, it's because it's losing speed, and speed it what keeps it going. Have you ever spun one? As soon as it wobbles, it fall shortly after that. That's why he picked it as his totem.

Anyway, child actors are expensive, and Nolan didn't want to hire more when his budget was already so high.

Well, that's the thing. The totem is unreliable throughout the whole movie. The kids were wearing slightly different clothes as far as I could tell, and in the flashbacks Cobb didn't seem much younger than what he looked like during the movie. So you could make a strong case for both sides. Though, I don't want to spoil too much for those who haven't seen it yet.

OT - Inception was probably my favorite movie this summer, though this summer was a little bleak aside from a few movies, namely Toy Story 3. Though, if you didn't like it, too each his own.

"Am I the only one" threads are frowned upon in these parts, to answer your question, no, there are plenty of people who didn't like it.
I knew versus threads were, but I've never seen people have a problem with these.

In any case, then, I guess I mean the only one here on the Escapist because it seems everyone here is in love with that movie.
They're often cleverly disguised trolling attempts, I've noticed.

On topic, I loved it. Inception was one of the best action movies that I've ever seen, action movies being the key phrase here.

Because dreams are always logical and therefor you can apply real-world physics to them??

Even if the movie was having budget issues, this still doesn't explain why they were wearing the exact same clothes as in his memories?? I am reasonably certain that their costume budget wasn't that tight??

i really liked it. would have enjoyed it more but the cinema i was in was BAKING so was uncomfortable and was destracted by people trying to fan themselves to keep cool. either way, great film. not as confusing as i thought it was going to be, followed it all easily enough.
