Alright, why do we all keep paying for the same thing, just updated with new guns (with multiple textures), new killstreaks, and old gameplay. Its a freakin arcade shooter, there are better games out there and us buying this 10 fold is just going to make them keep putting out games like this because we'll buy it. And if so many people have complaints about this game, why keep playing it? I used to like it until it just started getting repetitive. So anyway fellow escapists, why do you, or don't you, play this game anymore.

Judging by how many people here don't like Call of Duty, I'd say most of this site is done with the series. Switch to a different site though, and you'll get a different answer. I still enjoy them. Blowing stuff up, running and gunning, not being the only person being shot at in a war zone. It's all still fun for me. I do hope the next one is set sometime in the future. With laser guns. Preferably laser guns that shoot purple lasers. Like in Terminator 2.

I am fucking tired of the same bland FPS shooter. That's why I play Team Fortress 2, it has a cartoony art style with funny humor, brilliant classes, and a fun game play mechanism. Call of Duty has NONE of that!

This is one of the most regurgitated topics ever. Yet people feel the need to keep posting this over and over and over. Use the search feature.
All shooters are very similar. Such is the way of the shooter, get over it already.

If MW3 isn't at least as good as MW2 and CoD4, then I will be done buying new COD games. I am far from done with the series though. MW2 is still great fun if you can find a lobby without noob tubers and knifetards.

Shooters are all too similar recently.

CoD, Battlefield and all that jazz, they just bore the crap out of me. I would say the multiplayer is decent but I didn't find it that much fun. Shoot muppet, muppet shouts abuse because obviously he's gods gift to FPS and he couldn't possibly die unless people were cheating, shoot muppet a few more times to make him cry more, muppet cries more. Turn off game due to being bored of listening to muppets.

I'll stick to my RPG's thankyou.

Still think the games are fun, but I'm getting tired of the series now. Black Ops was a pretty fun game but I think I've had my fill. Call of Duty 4 still is my favorite multiplayer FPS, even if it doesn't work at all anymore on my computer. While I think the games themselves aren't very good anymore and Activision is really just milking the series now, at their core, they're still fun and the amount of hate the series gets on this site is ridiculous.

Yup. That would be me.

I gave the series one last chance with Black Ops. I was not impressed.

[insert CoD-related hate and assorted insulting insinuations here]

Welcome to 2009.

I'm probably renting MW3, because I actaully care about the campaign (and the developers also need to, which made BlOps slightly better to me), and if the multiplayer is improved enough I might buy it. Also for the Survival thing. That looks like a lot of fun.

The main problem i have with the latest CoDs is that they are heavily invested in XP. This is an FPS, not WoW. I remember the first CoD, no xp, no stat tracking, no ratios. Just get on, grab any gun for that country's team, and go. There were no perks, no killstreaks, and bigger maps that made using a sniper make sense. It played the same for everyone, every 10 kills, you'd get something, and 40 was artillery which had the same impact as everyone else's. No tubers, no knifers...it was fun.

The modern CoD is much more frustrating, slower, and it tries too hard. Suffice it to say, I still play the first one. Every time I go and buy the newest one, I get frustrated, and return to the first. Not sure if I will get this one.

I doubt I said anything new, these topics are numerous and I hope some fall on ActiVision's head soon.

i hate it for the opposite reasons i like Battlefield:
-small maps
-non-destructible terrain
-killstreaks which are only good at high levels
-sniping is impossible/entirely quickscoping.

whereas BF has:
-massive maps
-destructible terrain
-no killstreaks
-sniping is easy and fun

the difference is
-i dont get boxed in to one area with 5 other guys then we all get mowed down
-it makes it feel more realistic
-i can go 5 minutes without hearing 'napalm incoming helicopter incoming care package incoming' and all i can get is a useless spy plane.
-i found out in one match of BF i'm an amazing sniper. ive been playing CoD for years and didnt know that.

I tried giving the series my best shot at them (no pun intended), but I can't bring myself to care anymore. I decided that after Black-ops that I'm done with them, they're not that fun, and I don't see the huge appeal to them.

I just find them boring now, despite the fact that I adore Borderlands....

Same here. I found the NPCs very annoying and I felt like I was being told what to do every damn second, and god forbid if I decide to look around for something.

Your problem was leaving it all hanging with Black ops, Haha, IMHO, Black Ops was a failure. But I can say that Im sure, MW3 wont be to much better. But, on the other side they brought in new designers and what not so there is a possibility of fresh ideas and what not. I like COD4, nothing will come close to the love of 4.

It seems we've managed to reach a consensus: the first three were good. If anyone still has them installed/lying around, we should play those a bit more. I stick with United Offensive, personally.

I traded in all the Call of Dutys I have for funds towards games I might actually enjoy, so for now I'm done with it whether I like it or not.
And I will be done, up until I have every last friend I have that plays games relentlessly telling me it's the best thing ever and that I should totally buy it, so I end up getting it so they'll shut up. Just like every other best game ever I've fell for.
