**Spolier Warning** There are some details of the ending to Psychonauts here, so if you dont wanna know them, close this now :)

So I was playing psychonauts the other day, and was thinking, if buying Double Fine's latest games like Costume Quest and Stacking meant that we would see Psychonauts release in the next 2 years or so, would you download them?

Plus what do you wanna see in Psychonauts 2? I would wanna see it play out like a secret agent movie, just cause thats what the ending of the first one felt like (to me any way) And a RPG elements so you could level up your Psi Powers. It might be cool if there was also a level creater, like the one in the upcoming inFamous 2. Something so people could make their own mind bending levels andshare them online.

Also, Is costume Quest worth getting?

I think your right that it might play like a secret agent movie but I hope they don't play with the formula too much as long as its got the same Tim Schafer humour and just as entertaining to play however I don't mind.

Yes, very much so.
The first game was great, it just needed a bit of patching up in some gameplay aspects but otherwise it was a brilliant, quirky and incredibly fun game with some truly imaginative levels and very lovable characters.
I think it's a little sad that there was never a followup.

If you don't want to buy a game, don't buy it for the promise that a game you want will come out. If you want to support a developer with their future endeavors, awesome, you should totally buy their games. But don't force yourself to do it if you truly only want a sequel, and certainly don't pay for games you believe you'll hate...

No, I love Psychonauts but I see no reason to make a sequel to it, let that great game stand alone.

Honestly I'm not sure I want Psychonauts 2 at this point. Double Fine haven't made a very funny game since then. I get the impression that Eric Wolpaw had a much bigger hand in the writing than a lot of people give him credit for because I certainly didn't see that level of comic genius in Brutal Legend or any of their Arcade titles so far.

Unless Eric came back then no. And honestly I don't want that either, he's doing amazing stuff at Valve right now, Portal 2 is so funny I think it actually blows Psychonauts out of the water.

I don't want it.

Double Fine seems to be utilizing a no sequels strategy, and it's showcasing some inventive stuff.

Meh. I really don't. Psychonauts was a fun and charming and funny game, but it's easy to forget that a lot of the gameplay ranged from "meh" to downright terrible.

I do not want a sequel, but I do want a new full game by DoubleFine. They've proven with Stacking and Costume Quest that they can still make good games, and I'd love to see a new AAA title... but not a sequel. Sequelitis is killing the industry and I'd rather see Tim Schafer's demented mind create something new rather than rehash what we've seen before.

To be fair, they would need the same writing team if they did do a sequel. and some way better game play. I loved the first but some varity would have been nice.

I've played Psychonauts quite a bit, and I didn't see some flawless masterpiece that didn't need expanding on. I didn't even finish it. But I did see a lot of potential. The game is hilarious, and the setting and tone is really enjoyable overall. As long as they polish up the ol', you know, gameplay, it could be truly excellent. I'm usually able to push past mediocre gameplay for a great story (Bioshock), but the gameplay in Psychonauts was really, really mediocre. Platforming was imprecise and floaty, challenges were frustrating and fiddly... It didn't feel very solid, and the simple act of just walking around didn't feel right, I was always just looking forward to the next cutscene, not enjoying the gameplay at all.

So yeah, I'd love to see a sequel, if only for the chance to realise that potential. Double fine do need better programmers though.

Edit: But then, a sequel isn't even really that necessary, considering it was the inventiveness I loved. In actuality, I probably just want a Double fine game with good gameplay. Bit of the ol' Bioware-itis they have.

Yes I would love to see a sequel. On that note I quote movie bob: "please dont suck, please dont suck, please dont suck, please dont suck."

Pretty much this. Also OP, you don't need to buy Stacking and Costume Quest because you think it'll get a Psychonauts sequel made, you need to buy them because they're just damn good games in their own right!

I'd like to see more of the Psychonauts universe, but not a sequel per se. We've already got a (drippy, bloody, horrifying) look into Raz's mind, let's go for someone else!
