I really can't see Tony Stark shouting that out. Thor maybe, but come on, it's the Cap's line. You can't take that away from him. Nick Fury could maybe get away with it, because it's Samuel Motherfucking Jackson. Everyone else has no right. So yeah, it should be Cap. It better be Cap.

Cap... it should definitely be Cap. I have a feeling that Iron Man is going to be the one saying it though.

Cap. I always felt he was the combat leader and Nick Fury was the General behind the scenes. Granted Fury would go out and fight when he had to but Cap was the one that almost always seemed to be the battlefield commander.

What should happen is that Nick Fury needs to say (in that quiet, badass voice that Samuel L. Jackson does so well) something like "Assemble the Avengers", dramatically, into a phone.

Later in the movie, right before a pivotal fight scene, Chris Evans needs to speak the "classic" version of the line, like so:

*shot from below and either in front or to the side, as Captain America raises his shield high, silhouetted against the bright, cloudless (or really stormy and full of lightning, whatever they decide to go with) sky*

"Avengers... ASSEMBLE!!!!!"

...

Bad. Ass.

This is the best option.

Captain america, thor or iron man, the rest are either secondary, not likely to be around in the fighting (i know nick fury is meant to be like an unpowered god whos beaten captain america up before, but if you need a team, he probably wont be involved in the fight the teams needed for that much) or just not really in a position for it to make sense.
Oh and can you really see the hulk yelling it? (did see an awesome hulk moment recently involving bullseye and tax evasion though)

Actually yeah, whoever first said stan lee here, i back that idea.

Cap seems like the best choice, Nick really isn't the face of the avengers, so him doing it wouldn't make much sense. I'll be really pissed if bloody Tony Stark gets it though, I've never liked that guy, and him getting the line would be a huge disappointment.

Iron Man because they'll be having a discussion about who gets to do it and he's so narcissistic that he'll just shout it out while the rest are discussing it.
I doubt they would do that, seeing as how many comic fans would be breaking down their doors for messing with the line.

I'd rather not Nick Fury, Maria Hill or Coulson, or anyone from S.H.I.E.L.D., as while the Avengers seem to be government backed I want them to still retain some independance. Therefore it really comes down to Captain America, Thor or Iron-man.

Of them I choose Captain America, he's the only one who could say it both seriously and with strong conviction, Iron Man would do it sarcastically, Thor would do it overly dramatically.

Though I'd love a "We would have words with thee" line from Thor.

It really should be Cap, it would be cool if Fury says it first, but I get the impression it'll be some faceless loudspeaker on the helicarrier... and they're like "that sounds cool, lets say that from now on".

...or call back to it towards the end of the second act/halfway through the third, when the "real" villain is revealed. In that case it'll definitely be Captain America.

I've not followed the comics, so I don't know who's "meant" to say it. But I'd assume it's going to be used in a far less cliche way that it sounds, and its going to be Fury saying "Assemble the Avengers" or something.

I suppose, with the interaction between Cap and Iron Man seen in the trailer, Cap might get all "Avengers Assemble!", everyone looks at him weird, and Iron Man makes some cutting remark.

Edit : Not just that, but watching the trailer again, every important soundbite is from Iron Man/Stark.. because Downey Jnr is the biggest name, bar Jackson, in that movie. I highly doubt they would not have either used it already if it was going to be said, or if it is going to be said that they will give it to anyone other than the character that the public view as the "leader" of the group.

you want to put Chewbacca on a 'pwetty pwease'?
[insert 'oh god why would you do that' image here]

OT: Probably Capt. America. He's supposed to be like the field leader or something, so that would make sense.

Captain America canonically. Although It'd be awesome if they have Stan Lee in a cameo do it.
Stan Lee would make an awesome cameo...Hell, he'll make a cameo anyway, it's a Marvel movie.

Well, I voted for Iron Man. It's all I've known, really.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty certain he only cameos in movies in which he had a hand in making the particular character. Not just ANY Marvel movie. But I do agree, Stan Lee should do it. Won't likely be him so I go with Cap

It's so easy... Basically all the Avengers will gather together and Captain America will look at

them through a glass wall or something, and Stan Lee will slink up and view the Avengers beside

Captain America and state, "The Avengers have assembled." Cap will give him a weird look and Stan

Lee will disappear out the doorway. Cap will then quietly mouth, "Avengers, Assemble.", shake his

head and go into the room where the rest of the Avengers are waiting. TA DA! SPOILER!!!

I've seen him in every current Marvel movie. Well, I saw him in the last one I watched, and that was Thor.
