Those prices again:

4GB = $30
8GB = $45
16GB = $70
32GB = $120

So, how does this change things? I can't imagine many will be unchanged by such ridiculous pricing, unless if they had no plans to buy. For reference, here is the cost of 4GB of SD memory, of actually smaller size than PSV memory at inflated retail cost:

Yep, that's makes PSV memory about 13x as much for the lowest capacity. It's like buying a car and being told it will only work running on malt whiskey!

Did Sony think they could just grease us up and slip it in there and we would just be so in awe with the $250 unit price we wouldn't notice that fat $120 being burglarised through the back door?!?!?

I dont think it matters. My gaming library has never gotten large enough to where got deleting unused files didnt free up enough space. I need to know how much memory comes in the box and how much each game crews up.

Now now...

It'd be more like finding out the car runs on the highest quality of alchohol.

Thankfully, unless sony implements some new, better way of detecting third party hardware, there's going to be lots of third party memory for these things soon.

None! That's right you get no storage out of the box, if you want to even save games on the vita, you need some sort of external storage.

Wow. They pulled that crap with the PSP and they want to do it again.....

Why do they do this? They have an amazing system here and they want to turn almost everyone away with this ridiculous pricing and no built in storage...

The way you worded the thread title is awkward. It sounds like you're asking who turned something off.

Fixed, hopefully

The thing is, you can actually use Micro-SD memory cards in a PSP with a simple adapter. I've actually got an adapter that will fit a pair of Micro-SD cards to be read as a single large pro-duo memory card.

Didn't Microsoft do this with the Xbox 360? I have an arcade because it cost significantly less than the ones with the hardrives.

Thing was, they still undercut PS3 for the same capacity (though that's not factoring the cost of XBox Live Gold Membership) and around 2009-2010 you could use a pair of USB based memory sticks (Including USB hard drives and USB adapters of SD-cards) as storage, including for downloadable games and game installs.

Seeing as how it's a Sony handheld device, I'm not exactly shocked by the news.. disappointed, sure, but not shocked. I quite enjoy my PSP though and the announced lineup for the Vita is looking very appealing. I doubt I'll buy a Vita on day 1, but I probably will get one eventually. The news about the memory didn't change my mind at all.

Meh. The Vita never looked special to me. When and if they announce San Andreas Stories I'll pick up a used one. Grove Street For Life.

Still on the fence about getting although I'm leaning more to the not-purchasing side with every passing day. If I do get it I'll wait until the 2nd or 3rd iteration of the system and bundle deals. You know there's going to be a game and 4GB memory bundle for $300 a few months after it releases.

Until then I've got Deus Ex, Sonic Gen, possibly Skyrim, hopefully Dishonored and my back catalog of unfinished PS2 games to keep me busy.

Well, I was leaning towards getting one, but I don't care anymore. The Vita had the 3DS beat for me, but now I can't see how it would be worth it. At all.

Some of the most creative new IP's seen in a decade, the return of some of the best JRPG's ever made, graphical quality on par with current gen standards, precision twin stick controls and a day one Uncharted game? The Vita has already been called one of the best handhelds ever made, one flaw doesn't change that.
bad battery life, limited game selection, cost prohibitive... what's your point again? That because you are sold, I should buy it?
