I will not be buying one, but if someone does I don't want them to die or anything like that. I was gonna get a PS4, but then they pulled the "pay to play games you already own" bullshit, so now Sony's out too. It's either a WiiU or nothing for me this time around.

It all comes down to the games.

Xbox One makes for a poor comparison against PS4 and WiiU right now but a lot can change as games start to come out over the first few years. I'll pick up the console(s) that offer the most titles of interest.

Online requirements and used game requirements aren't a deal breaker for me.

Note: None of the 3 major consoles offer enough to warrant a purchase as of yet.

I personally see people that still buy the Xb-one for one of these reasons as weak-willed:
-For the exclusives. I mean is that new game or sequel game so shiny that you are willing to give up your rights and privacy for it?
-For being able to get all games digitally. Really? You're that lazy?
-For being a fan of the xbox. No explanation needed...
-For the TV functionality. You know...there is such a thing as a TV which does the job better...

Not that I will condemn anyone buying the Xb-one. But I will think less of their ability to make reasonable/logical decisions.

1. I'm really not giving up any rights personally, Kinect can be turned off.
I'm not a fan if the used game policy but I usually only buy a few games I really love, and usually keep them forever. Plus it says friends can play on the shared library (someone on this thread pointed out that they won't know the difference between friends and family)Plus I see them back peddling on it anyway.
As far as the 'check in', I have amazingly fast Internet so it's not an issue for me. I personally like the idea of it updating as I sleep. I feel they shouldn't make it mandatory for people that don't have reliable connections, but it's not going to stop me.

2. I don't care one way or the other, but downloading games to the hard drive seem to perform better

3. Why a low blow? I'm a fan of Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo... So what? I like the feel of the 360 controller better then the PS3 so I get more multiplatform for it.

4. I wouldn't say it does the job better.... The smart tvs I've seen are slow and kinda odd to use. If the voice commands, the ability to switch instantly without having to use my separate tv remote, and multitasking work as shown, it has amazing functionality....better then any smart tv or cable box I've seen.

People can make logical and rational decisions and come to different conclusions....there isn't ant reason to call someone's opinion invalid, unless it harms someone, like racism or Marxism

I am. At least 1, possibly 2.
From the UK.

And yes, I do have very good reasons for picking this over the PS4. It's not just blind loyalty - it's legitimately the better choice for me.
How is it a better choice unless you are really into TV stuff. For TV xbox is better but for gaming PS4 is better.
1 - You don't need the disc to play games. This means that a) I can be lazy (Woo!), and b) I can store my games elsewhere (Space in that room is a premium)
2 -
Xbox One will enable new forms of access for families. Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Just like today, a family member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend?s house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games. You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time.
This. I'll no longer need two copies of games in order for the two of us to play at once. Plus, hopefully they may not look too closely at who is actually your Family, so I can add friends to the list and play their games.
I'd look into it a bit more if I where you, because from my understanding you can only lend a game once, and a game from one console can only be played on another console for one hour. But hey more power to ya man, for the people that are buying it I hope it's not as bad as it's been sounding.

Me? Hell no, again different strokes and all that but this sounds like the monstrous combination of everything I've come to hate about the industry in recent years, and there is no way they are getting my money. I will probably go full on PC this generation, that way the £600 I would have spent on an Xbox-one would probably buy me every game on Steam. Got to love the sales.

Most likely I won't. The main reasons people would buy an Xbone seem to be exclusives and a refusal to change. The exclusives on the 360 never interested me that much, and Sony is going out of their way to do nothing but please the customers now - something which Microsoft seem to give zero fucks about. For those that haven't seen it, here's a great little video proving that point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yC8FbgGnd0

I'm quite certain I saw a tweet from Sony saying the PS4 could do the same thing.

Polls require more than one option to gauge accuracy. I have an xbox360 now and skipped the PS3, but as things stand now, more than likely will be getting a PS4 next year. Microsoft screwed the pooch on used games, and as 99% of my games are bought used at a considerable discount, enough a reason to skip buying.
Pretty much my exact reasoning. Great minds, and all that.

Yeah, not going to get one. Going back to PlayStation after a generation away. What kills the Xbone for me is the mandatory Kinect more than anything.

Another thing pushing me towards the Ps4 that people haven't pointed out yet: Microsoft seems to be relying on third parties again. I'm a bit disappointed that Sunset Overdrive is published by Microsoft, and thus is likely to stay exclusive forever, but games like Dead Rising 3 and Titanfall are 100% 3rd party, and if the last generation taught me anything, it's that those games will likely come to other consoles. Those games will go multiplatform even faster if gamers flock to the Ps4 (which seems quite likely right now.) Meanwhile, as far as I know, all big budget Ps4 exclusives announced so far are from studios that Sony owns. You won`t be able to play those games anywhere else, not even on a PC.

This is the exact same thing that happened this generation, and I can think of more big Ps3 exclusives this year than there have been in the last 3 years for the 360. Plus, Sony is grabbing indie support while Microsoft is putting an end to self-publishing on the Xbox One

I'm glad you're making the choice that's right for you.
: )

You should prepare for a LOT of of people forcing their opinion on you though.
I mean yikes, this is gonna be messy.

Hey, I dislike the XBox One at this point with a serious passion- largely because of the message I fear it sends to the big media conglomerates about what they can get away with.

But at least 9th Requiem has reasons for his/her choice, based on factual information. I can respect that. It's the "Why am I paying $100 more for a system that puts restrictions on what I can do with the games I buy...? Because, shut up, that's why!" segment I refuse to validate.

Perhaps. Eventually. After a price drop or with a good bundle deal. I'm cautiously optimistic that there's a chance Microsoft actually has something planned. I dunno, I have very mixed feelings about what it can do, but I also have no intention of getting a PS4, either, since I detest their controllers. They're not going to get my money until they give me a reason to see that it's all going to be worth it in the end.

Me, because I run a small games news site, and I have to have all the consoles to report on them properly. I'll probably never use it outside of that, though, and the kinect will always have something over it.

I think all the consumer polls that Microsoft used to deduce that 24 hour suicide watches, used gaming blocking, and always on spy cameras for the Xbox One were what people wanted, were conduct in a similar manor to this poll.

I will probably get one eventually, like years from now.

I absolutely won't be since I just can't condone the way they are pandering to publishers at the cost of the consumer. From the UK, BTW.

Also, I'm a little concerned to see people saying the DRM and online checks don't bother them. Now while I wouldn't for a second presume I have the right to tell you what you should and shouldn't buy, I would ask that you carefully consider what it could mean in the long term. Sure, you may not think the Xbox One restrictions are a big deal, you buy all of your games new and you'll be connected to the internet anyway so what does it matter? Well right now, it doesn't matter (to you at least), but it sends the message that we're willing to put up with losing our rights as consumers, that we're ok giving the publishers more control over games after we have bought them from them. If the Xbox is a success, then you can be certain that the generation of consoles after this one will impose even more restrictions because the publishers aren't going to be willing to stop until they have complete control over what we buy. If you don't see a problem with that at all, then more power to you, but that sounds like a dark and terrible future to me and it's one I hope I never see.

Uk. And not enjoying the fact we have to pay more than everyone else. I love my 360 but I cant in good conscience go near the xbone. I recently upgraded to pc and will be buying a PS4 in the near future and a WiiU after the next version of it is released.

I can honestly say that I think you are harming the gaming industry by supporting a console that pulls the sort of shit xbone does.

The thing treats you like a criminal on parole with the always online thing. The used game policy makes me sick and to be quite honest, its dickish that they are forcing the kinect on you when NO ONE liked it, and on top of that it barely functions half the time. And the damn thing is listening to you..... IT LISTENS how can you not find that creepy?

If you need your next Halo fix because you love Halo and xbone is the only way you can get it, I understand why you want the xbone. However I do not respect the decision and any friend to the gaming industry would not support something like the xbone, its several steps too far.

I realise I sound like a huge tosser its just that I have no idea how some people can just accept stuff like the Xbone. Its just going to make Micro$hit think they can get away with whatever they want.

I'm more interested in purchasing a Xbox1 over a PS4. Playstation controllers are annoying, I'm more interested in the One exclusives, it's only $50 more expensive, and games theoretically should be cheaper for it. Not that I'll get one at launch.

Not a low blow. apparently more explanation IS needed. Being a 'fan' of something, and that being one of the main reasons for someone to buy it screams 'sheep' to me. Getting something just because it's made by a certain company is stupid.

Pretty sure they said the PS4 will cost 100 less than the XBone

I've been using Steam for 7.5 years, Xbox1 does nothing new that Steam hasn't been doing for ages.

Not the case in Australia.
