The answer:

What? Batman counts! He was trained as a ninja, and ninja are assassins, ergo Batman is an assassin who refuses to kill people.

Out of the Assassins i can name out of fiction or games i know of? , some i could name as being adept and generally passable.

But instead of naming those, i'll go for one more obscure and far more Badass then the ones in the poll:

The Master of Sinanju- from the Destroyer series of books, wins by a mile in my opinion- the Master in the current series is pushing 80+ but can still run at 120kms without breathing hard, lift over a ton, can dodge and catch bullets, his senses border on the supernatural and he still maintains skills that his apprentice is catching up to.

This person you'd pass in the street and think is a sweet old man, with ecentric dress sense, but give him even a minor reason and you'd be dying from crippled organs or missing limbs all delivered at a speed which people would swear was just the wind.

Anyone else familiar with the Destroyer series?, i'd recommend it

I was struggling between Ezio and Altair but I had to choose Ezio even though I love Altair more. Ezio is better at getting the job done, especially because his targets weren't out in the open like Altair's, and he's less likely to get slaughtered by guards.

But I like Altair. He was a little midget.
Seriously, watch the final part where he goes after Robet (is that his name?) and gets surrounded by guards. He just stands there looking up at them all. Naw :3

I voted Altair because he's far less... eh, I dunno, he's just better than Ezio as an assassin.

To be honest with you, that's kinda why I liked Altair.

No whining, no crying, no goofy stares every time he passes a female.

Also:
He not only found a hot Templar chick, he knocked her up. Gotta give the man props for that.
Wait...What? When does That happen in Assassin's Creed 1?
Oh, That would make sense as I got up to the second-last set of murders in AC1 before my computer got mad at me and no longer decided to open the game, and I have yet to play AC2.

Doesn't. Happens in AC2.

Assuming he can be considered an assassin, I'm going with Ryu Hayabusa.

As for wetboys, well that's an entirely different matter.
I love you.
Not sure how I feel about Ryu, but I do know that Durzo Blint doesn't qualify as an assassin.

... Assassins can fail.

Lol, but seriously "Wetboy"?

I get it, as in "wet-work." But the term wetboy just doesn't do it for me. The entire time I was reading the books I kept picturing a toddler needing his diaper changed.

Additionally, I never bought the Wetboy > Assassin arguments. It seemed like Durzo's most effective methods (poisoning, etc.) could have been carried out by anyone. It was just the over the top, "I'm going to kill you in the most elaborate way possible" stuff that required Talent.
Well, okay, I get you on the terminology. It's actually lampshaded, I think, in the second one, when some guys make sexual jokes about Vi being a 'wetgirl'. Vi, of course, kills them with her bare hands, but still... meh.

But there was a massive amount of Talent used in just getting to the deader. Kylar starts throwing Talent around like birdseed in the second and third books (which are of a much lower quality, anyway. I can't even finish the third), but Durzo only really used it for stealth. His actual talent (not with a capital T, just regular talent) is obvious. He uses poison, yeah, but he poisons a drink from ten to twenty feet above the table, spinning at the end of a rope.
Okay, so the poison failed to kill him, but it was the middle of a coup anyway, so shut up.

Indeed :D

I still remember being asked at school "What would you like to be when you grow up?"
My answer- "Nina Williams".

Paraphrasing....

1: "Out of everyone in the whole world, who is the most effective assassin?"

2: "Well, I would imagine it would be one who would be able to conceal their identity as an assassin."

1: "Yes, but I can think of an even more...ideal assassin. One who does not know he is an assassin..."

Name the movie!
Naked Gun??

Ricardo Montalban was so awesome...
