Whether or not anyone wants to admit it, there are more people who haven't left their chairs in months because of WOW than there are grains of sand on a beach.
thats wrong, as if that was true, bizzard would have bought microsoft, Mac, dell, Nvidia, HP, and a large number of mining corporations
No no, you see, if they did that then they would have the other corporations coming after them all together. It wouldn't do them any good. Blizzard is just lying back in the lap of luxury, carefully waiting for the time that they become unstoppable. You just wait 'till we're all working for them as slaves, then you'll believe.

I voted Guild Wars because its on the list, but I would probably have to go with DDO. Its a close race between those .

Well if you go by numbers alone it's wow.

BUT if you go by the *important* things like graphics, content, quality, difficulty, etc etc etc.

Then WoW is bottom of the list. It can't even work with threaded cores properly for christ sake. No matter what system you use, it makes your entire rig slow down.

I voted 'other', where i vote for eve-online.
I played e-o, wow, l2, gw, mu, tibia, and many more.

Why do i think that e-o is best?
It's advancement:
Eve is most tech advanced game. I never taken part in a 500vs500 fight in any other game.
Game client runs smovely. When i comape it with wow, or -oh noes- l2, it is pure leetness. In wow or -oh noes- l2 you go to city where is lotta people, frame rate will drop a lot [i have c2d e8400, gf8800gt and i run crysis smothely, so it's not 'bout my config].

Also, it's content advancement. Eve is most advanced game when it comes to content i believe. After playing this game for a year now i still don't know [ i haven't done by my self] a lot of stuff.

Community- we do have spammers, lolpeople and stuff, but... it's better. Eve is more realistic- we have politics and stuff. just take a look at wars. Wars between aliances aren't 'oh, let's wardec them for this evening cause i'm borded'. they take months and it is about staying alive or packing up your assets.

What i don't like about eve? Changes... changes that have came to eve recently killed -are killing- solo pvp. pvp these days is about who got bigger blob.
Also, game worth of skills got nerfed. Game is being pushed towards newbies, not towards people that lent this game exist when it was needed.
Another thing... game is pushed towards highsec [something like no-pvp place]. Plenty of people never left highsec, which makes me very, very sad panda. This is a problem, cause sometime ago, you could've actualy go to highsec and killsomeone [after what you wuold have to fight guards]. Now, you can kill only smallest of ships, which preety much suck, cause carebears feel to safe.

This is my vote for EVE-Online.
2nd would be Lineage 2 for it's fast pvp.

ok... i voted for Guild Wars, but I do have a question... why is there so much hate for RuneScape?
because it is a festering corpse marinaded in bile and skunk piss, with 2 piles of 6 years unwashed gym sock for cherries

Well, WoW is indisputably the king, so I voted for it, but I prefer Guild Wars. I've given WoW two three month play time things, and got bored before they ran out, both times. I was having a good time doing raids/dungeons with friends, and I have some good memories, but near the end I was just like,"Guh, why am I doing this?" I just keep returning to Guild Wars for some reason, though.

Go play runescape and time yourself to see how long it takes someone to call you a f4get n00b

WoW is irrefutably the king of MMOs. With that in mind, that probably explains why I'm such a staunch advocate of regicide.

Personally, I prefer CoV to it, but I'll probably hop aboard APB whenever it launches.

That's why you ignore people... (and I do play it actually)

While that is an acceptable response(sort of), it gave no reasons whatsoever as to WHY you hate it so much. Which is what I was asking. Oh well, I guess I'll never get a actual answer...

No matter what you say or what you think WoW is king of the mountain. what 11 million subscriptions at this point !?!

Really it''s the community that makes an mmo..hence the name MMO. So for anyone it can be whatever guild or supergroup or faction that they most get along with to be the deciding factor on which game they stick with.

Don't worry though all good thigns come to an end eventually. One day they will realize that there are better mmos out there, (or at least others). I mean damn it took 4 or 5 years for people to realize that facebook existed.

Edit: I voted for EQ due to adventure being the main focal point for an MMO for me. Vanguard would be up there but the grind is worse there than in EQ.

An honorable mention would be Ultima Online.

Here, I'll go over where each stands out, if any

Word of Warcraft - Numbers

Warhammer - Not really much of anything... above standard game with above standard PVP (RVR) and below average PVE

Age of Conan - King of combat

City of heroes/city of vilains - King of Customization

Everquest - King of adventure (if you played it, you'd understand)

Guild Wars - A bit of everything... decent customization, decent PVP, decent PVE... above average in all regards but feels like a game you wouldn't pay a monthly fee for

runescape(if you can even call it an mmo) - King of... free?

other(specify) - Eve. King of player interactions and impact

The most successful is World of Warcraft. I wouldn't call it fun, say it had the right amount of difficulty or say it had replayability but that's my personal and very, very, a thousand times very marginal opinion. It has fun parts, but I don't like the idea of having to endure 79/80 of the game before it becomes fun and challenging.

Depends on what you're looking for, but I think World of Warcraft is king on an overall scale.

For story, I don't think you can deny that Final Fantasy XI is fantastic, though lacking in other areas.

And Age of Conan is absolutely terrible.

Isn't this basically a "What's your favorite MMO" thread? It has to be, otherwise the answer could only be WoW.

Navyfield. It's a free to play game which you may purchase extra stuff, none of it's over $2 except for a 'premium' account which is $10.

Sadly over the several years I've been playing it, it is not uncommon for a casual player to spend upwards of $250 on the game.

Personally I've spent over $350.

Oh, and it's a sprite based 2d-ish game.
