Poll: Who made the best consoles?

Title says it all really.

Who do you think made the best video game consoels from the groups stated on the list.

Bea in mind that these poll options only allow a limited number of answers so I've had to condense them somewhat.

If you choose a group please state which of their consoles specifically you like and why.

Sony, I just like the PS3 because their graphics are more realistic looking, theres no disk tray to ruin a game if it falls over, it doesn't get a case of the "gremlins", and you can watch blu-ray movies on it. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a Xbox guy but I've excepted the facts and the PS3 is now becoming the more logical choice fo console superiority.

Well, Sony has been pushing the hardware envelope in that market since the mid 90s, though before that it was just a competition between Nintendo and Sega... Nintendo has made the most iconic systems with the most impact on video games as a whole...
But being an outspoken member of the old guard, I'm gonna vote Atari, simply because the 2600 is what got me into gaming.

Past tense? Nintendo. I loved my SNES and Gamecube. Wii not so much but still.

Currently, I guess Sony but that isn't saying alot.

Probably Sony, imo becase of Playstation 1 and 2. But current gen I really have to give it to Microsoft, the Xbox360 despite it's flaws in case design and initial release, has an awesome HW design, the PS3 is essentially a HighPerformance Computer with a decent but uninteresting GPU. The CPU is interesting, but not anything that you would aim at games normally.

I've got an Xbox over PS3 but voted sony since I consider the PS2 the best console. I just got Persona 4 for it the other day! I have plenty of gripes with Sony over the years but the fact is their previous console is still getting support while almost every other company drops support for their last generation almost at the announcement of a new console.

Poll: What console did you grow up with?

Guess that means Sony. PS1 was good for its time and the PS2 has my favorite library of games on any console. It's also remarkably difficult to emulate without any lag.

Console hardware is a distant second to the games. We all know how inferior the Wii's hardware is compared to the other consoles, yet look at its success. This isn't even a new thing: back in the 16-bit era, the Sega Genesis was twice as fast as the SNES AND hit the market first. The Atari Lynx was the only 16-bit handheld of its time, but does anyone remember it? The Jaguar was also technically superior to most if not all competing consoles, yet was a loser. And let's not forget the Dreamcast....

I voted for Nintendo, even though I'm not a fan, nor have I ever owned anything Nintendo other than a GBC and DSLite.

The reason for this is, in my experience, Nintendo builds their shit to last. I once dropped my Gameboy in the snow in my yard and lost it. Come Spring, when the snow melted, I plucked it out of the mud. And it still worked!

You can abuse their hardware all you want. Those things just won't die.

If we're talking about modern consoles and their practical use to me, I'd vote for the Xbox Slim. Until the Slim, I would have voted for my PS3, but since I got the Xbox Slim, my PS3 has just continually frustrated me.

Though, out of the current generation, I would have to say Sony. I like my PS3 more than my Wii.
