As a lot of you are probably aware I am a big fan of Mass Effect, hence you may also be aware that my favourite male character so far is still Wrex. The tough hard bitten warrior with a dry sense of humor.
Of course we all know that Wrex has a chance of dying over the course of Mass Effect 1 but that if he lives we find him alive and well as the new Chief of his now quite big clan called Urdnot. Naturally there are changes ahead for the Krogan, namely putting many clans together and united under Urdnot and dedicating their resources not to combat but instead to breeding and finding ways to combat the genophage as well as a more civil legal and justice system. In a sense by throwing away some of the more barbaric parts of Krogan society, Wrex is instead making a functioning society that may have a chance at survival.
I was actually quite happy at this result.
Until a friend of mine who had also played Mass Effect 2 (without playing Mass Effect 1 therefore getting Wreav instead) pointed out that with Wrex as leader it caused minor conflicts throughout the campsite and subsequent heavy opposition from other clans who considered Wrex's ideologies flawed which may lead to a civil war among the Krogan and possibly cause their society to crumble to ruin once again.
Now we move onto Wreav, Wrex's brother who takes over if Wrex dies on Virmire. He is much more traditional than Wrex and thus faces a lot less opposition as he continues to make Urdnot strong and appears to be interested solely in building better weapons and technology that seem made principally for a war. While on the one hand this does mean that the Krogan are united this also means that they may well try another war and make the same mistake as last time and once again crumble their society to ruin.
So in some respects the fate of Urdnot, and the Krogan for that matter seems to be in a very uneasy balance no matter who ends up the leader so I have decided to make this thread for the sake of discussing it.
For me personally, I still think that Wrex is the better bet because some of the traditions that Wrex abandoned may well have been factors that attributed the Krogan society to crumble in the first place and that with him as leader it's less likely for the Krogan to go to war against the council... even if he has to face opposition (plus he's totally awesome).
But what about you? Who do you reckon has a better chance of leading the Krogan to greatness once more?
