After a massive out pour of support back when the schism first happened, I have noticed a gradual drop-off of people mentioning the show. I'm curious to know if this is because people have simply stopped talking about it, or have people actually stopped watching EC?

Personally, I watched the show religiously every week when they were here and I did follow them to Youtube, but I got massively turned off of the show when James hijacked two whole episodes to talk about how he used to play games so much that he didn't function as a human being. The humor was gone, the intelligence was gone, the whole show had become a forum for James to lecture us about how terrible games had been for him... I have not watched a single episode since. What about you guys? Are you still watching the show or did you lose interest?

(Here's hoping for a poll that doesn't get eaten [Edit: huzzah!])

Why would I ever not. It's the best online show I've found. I'm kinda sorry that those two episodes failed to reach you, but to each their own I guess.

It's understandable that it doesn't get discussed as much here simply because this isn't where it is now. Despite the venue change the show is about the same and I still watch it.

I hardly watched it when it was on the Escapist, only really watched it when I had a uni assignment due. I thought it was quite a preachy boring show to be honest (in my opinion). Jimquisition is a humorous alternative methinks :D

That was pretty much when I gave up too. I think they had one more normal episode on there that I watched, and then I gave up. They were planning to move AGAIN and I was kind of getting tired of following around a show that I didn't think was all that great. I mean, they frequently got basic gaming details wrong (how many times did they call Gears of War a first person shooter?!), and then there were those two terrible episodes you mentioned. Overall, it just wasn't worth the trouble to keep watching anymore.

It's on patv.com now with Checkpoint (ENN replacement), and that Game Addiction episode was a brief departure from the series normal mode, which it promptly returned to.

Meh, I used to watch it here but I always thought it was way too pretentious at some points and very preachy. Sometimes they would make good points but every now and then something they say would either be totally wrong.

I checked out some of the their new episodes and I agree that the game addiction episode was boring and pointless.

GA was kind of lame, but whatever, since then it's been its good old self.

Great series, shame the shitstorm that happened here which forced them to leave.

are you guys insane?!?! Jimquisition isnt even close to being a show anything like extra credits plus i find it a somewhat obnoxious, uninformative show and dont much care for it. I have to say i love extra credits, its informative, funny, accessable and from my perspective a far superior show. i've never known the show to get preachy and i've never once found it to be boring... thats kinda like saying the whole of ted.com is preachy and boring, such a statement is fundamentally wrong on so many levels. Personally i'd rather learn and expand my understanding of my favorite past-time than get blargged at by an imbecile and feel my brain die with each passing second.

You forgot the "in my opinion" part :D Also the other fellow didnt say he liked it so only I am apparently insane. Yes its informative in the same way that Gears is a first person shooter (quote). In my opinion it is very preachy what with the whiny voices and that god awful games ruined my life James episode. Nothing wrong with Jim he is just as informative as extra credits (burn) only more humorous about it. Seriously though its a goddamn 5-10 minute internet show, at the end of the day who the fuck cares. There are many more pressing issues than declaring undying fealty and loyalty to an internet show...

In my opinion :D

Oh no, how dare they depart from their normal format for two whole episodes to talk about a rather serious issue. The horror. The terror.

They should always remain topical, but only in ways I approve of!

Checkpoint's the main reason I watch EC, actually.

Graham: Welcome to Checkpoint. I say that, but of course, you're not watching because Skyrim came out Friday.
Kathleen: But that does mean we can say whatever we want. (Puts fingers over head) I'm a kitty! Meow!
Anyway, as others have said, it's not ON this site anymore, so it's not getting mentioned on this site anymore. Makes sense. Penny Arcade has their own forum, where I've registered solely to comment on Extra Credits and Checkpoint (And as a result, make the occasional note about a comic). Bringing it up here seems like it's...I don't know, battling inertia or something.

Nah, they just don't understand pretentious is, and are conflating it with "stuff I don't like."

Plus, pass time, not past-time.

I have never understood this dichotomy. Why is it that so many people feel like you can only like one or the other between EC and JQ? I liked EC back when it was on the escapist, but the Gaming Addiction episode smashed my interest so hard that it's difficult to find the pieces anymore. JQ started out poor, in my opinion, because Jim Sterling had always been a writer, not an actor, and it took him a while to figure out how to become one, but once he did the show has become quite good. I am still the same person who liked EC when they were here and I like JQ, so why does it seem like so many people feel that only one or the other can be good?

You are right about my forgetting to say "in my opinion" and for that i apologise. Im sorry but i just dont find Jim funny or informative in any way shape or form... i guess i just don't "get" his humor (and its not a "engish humor" thing because im english) I will concede that the games ruined my life episode could have been handled wayyy better on their part but i am going to stand by my statement in saying he is nowhere near being as informative as extra credits i.e. the issue with drug cartels in mexico, the pros and cons of "gameification," ideas such as tangential learning, teaching methods etc. when i've tried to watch Jim all i've seen is a guy giving opinions on news and games and talking about how he is gods gift. But in a way yes you are right there are wayyy more important issues than a 10 min internet show but in answer to your "Who the fuck cares question" well... you (burn), me and anyone else posting in this thread clearly.

I used to watch Extra Credits a lot when it was on here but after they moved I haven't watched it since. EC was a good show and if it was still on The Escapist I would most likely still be watching it.

Why don't you take Yahtzee, make him do away with his artwork, force him to talk slowly, sigh occasionally, and tell everyone how gaming touched him in a bad place for 10 minutes... and then do it again a week later so he can finish his story. I'd bet you money that people would stop watching ZP in droves. It's not just a deviation of style.

Nope, they get like over 100k for Allison surgery and right after that they complain about not getting money and say "Well we're keeping all this money, but we're gonna bail now so fuck you". Could be interesting to watch no doubt, be I'm not doing that on principle.
