I wanna see Vancouver win, I just love Luongo and the Sedins but also their general style of play. On an unrelated note, Tampa, San Jose and Nashville shouldn't even have hockey teams so I just hope they get to have their offseason start sooner rather than later.

The Canucks have yet to bring it home, so that would be a cool thing to accomplish.

Also, the Bruins still owe Montreal blood.

I know, its early, and I know, Hockey's nto very big here, but we did one for the Super Bowl, and thats nothing more then ad porn really (and a half time show).

Anywho, its the second round, and each team has had a chance to show itself in a playoff setting, so the question is, who will win the cup? Or even just their conference?

Personally... I see Nashville winning the West, and the cup. They're a solid team, great goaltending, hard hitting defense, the special teams are decent, and the offensive forwards have really made their names. Detroit just seems old, and I think after San Jose, they'll be weak (so will San Jose after Detroit, but I have more faith in Detroit Winning). And Vancouver is mostly hype. The Sedins were practically invisible, Luongo fell apart, and just isnt a playoff goalie, and the team seemed to go into a free fall against a stripped and destroyed 8 seed Blackhawks who very nearly missed the playoffs.

For the East, it hurts to say it, but I think Washington has the best chance. Philly has problems in its goaltending they're going to definitely need to sort, and if Briere gets injured, they'll fall apart. They're going to play a Thomas backed Bruins and the Bruins wont let what happend last season happen again this season. The Caps faced a pathetically weak Rangers who had their number through the regular season. They'll face the Bolts, and thats a mostly playoff green team who got a good break when they had to face a stripped down Pens*.So I see it as Boston and Washington, and Boston will be so beat up from Philly (if they make through Philly) that they'll just be to little for the offense power of the Caps.

For the cup... I see Nashville. The Caps will be weakened and bruised from the Bruins, and Nashville will over power and out goalie the Caps.

So, escapist community, who will win Lord Stanleys beautiful silver Chalice?

*I know the Pens lost for more reasons then crosby and Malkin out. Fluery fell apart in a few games and their major scoring players in the regular season just couldnt produce. But the bolts did admittedly get lucky, because the PP was a major crutch, and would have been far better with 87 and 71
The Red Wings will be hoisting the Cup this year. Nashville ain't gonna do shit. How many Cups do the Predators have? None. In Detroit we have 11. And this is our 20th straight year in the playoffs.

I dont see it. Detroit is old, going on too old, and no one thought the Coyotes was gonna win. I think more people are surprised it wasnt just a clean 4-0 sweep (though I always figured they would win one at home). And the route to the cup is gonna be tough. They have to go through San Jose who's gonna come off hot and (in my mind) Nashville, who are a young team with plenty of talent and could easily handle Detroit since they 4-6 win the regular season against them. And yeah, the rangers went 4-1 against the Caps, but the Rangers were weak going in and injured, where the Preds are strong and able.

also, saying Nashville is young is an unfair argument. They're not a hockey market, so the fact that they're doing this much in just (EDIT) 12 years is a major accomplishment. In fact, they're 6 in 12 seasons in the league, so thats .500 in appearances alone, and thats better then some of the longer running teams. THe only reason detroit was ever so good from its start is that it was an original six (which gives it so much bull shit biasness when being handed down punishment [MR. BERTUZZI WE ALL SAW WHAT YOU DID, YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED JUST LIKE MATT COOKE, ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU'VE GOT A WORSE RECORD OF HEAD HUNTING!!].) so they had plenty of time to get a great team and assert themselves as hockey market (Especially since the Lions started to fail hard and baseball went on a fast decline.

besides, by that logic, Montreal should never lose a season and win every cup, since they have something like 24.

Vancouver's chances are looking pretty good now that Luongo found his footing and Kesler and the Sedins are scoring again.

Yeah, but the preds arent really anything more then an average team. THey dont have any real break out players like Kessler or Sedin or Crosby.

On a side note, its AWESOME to see the Caps and the Flyers to get Swept. Let ovi take his fail to russia, god knows they dont have enough of it

Vancouver mainly because I live in in BC and because they're the only Canadian team left.

Rooting for Tampa, but I think Vancouver will win, because the Sharks choke every year.

Do think it will be a Tampa/Vancouver final though.
