The Escapist provides a great environment for internet debates.... it is rare to come across somewhere on the internet where disagreements can occur and it feels like other people are actually listening to your opinion.
But fuck that.
As much as i admire it, i am getting sick and tired of all these serious threads!
It is time to put some fun back into this "game" forum.
I mean are we really making multiple threads on feminism and rape in games?

Now to the point
Who would win in a fight.

Spoiler: A group of 10 actual soldiers

Capable of doing shit you can't do in a video game eg:
-Neck rotation independent to body
-Climbing obstacles
-More body positions than just - Stood, crouch, prone
-Fire over/around cover
-Realistic bullet drop
-More equipment than in COD. Eg. a mirror to look around a corner and plenty of other stuff.
-Can destroy terrain

Behave unrealistically such as:
-No fall damage
-Can kill with a knife (One hit)
-Much faster reloads
-Quickscoping (No bullet drop)
-Regenerative health
-Aim assist
-COD shotguns (Aka no damage after 3m)
-Cannot destroy terrain

Lets say the battle takes place on a large map size on COD.

I'd say COD soldiers on the basis that they don't have any emotions. They wouldn't panic and do stupid things as a result, just fight in the most efficient way.

A real soldier can not take multiple bullets without ill-effect, can not heal themselves by crouching behind cover and can not sprint for ages and still have perfect accuracy. I'm going for CoD winning it.

If they had exactly the cod mentality, IE running out of cover all the time and not bothering to hide, I think real soldiers would win.
Those guys have strategies and would have a plan.

Well, actual soldiers wouldn't be running straight into buildings shooting wildly in order to get the most kills. There's tactics involved in an actual war. There's none of that in CoD.

Depends how the CODbots are programmed. I mean, they could be competent, or they could be dumbass 13-year olds as has been suggested, but they could also be totally overpowered aimbots.

Assuming equal levels of skill for both, though, I would say the COD guys would win. Except if they have shotguns, because I've heard shotgun shells in COD disappear after about 3 metres or something.

Anyway, real soldiers probably win on account of the fact that their weapons will retain accuracy and power over 400m instead of the ~40m in COD. That and the fact that they can fire through walls, whereas COD people can't (at least not since WAW), and actually work as a team.

All they'll need to do is, as a squad, take cover and put a horrific amount of fire on the COD people at extreme range as they spawn (COD people don't take cover or work as a team after all) and the deed is done!

Depends how the CODbots are programmed.

Not programmed, controlled by remote players, say on a level of around 1.6 k/d players.

What's the plane of battle? A COD map or something more akin to a Battlefield map?

A large COD map.
Say afghan from MW2.

And you know.. no re-spawning for either side.

I think that is more 'VS' threads.. which this kind of is but i think that applies more to 'xbox vs PS3' i can't really see a serious argument coming from this, so it should be fine.

I Voted COD soldiers just for their ability to tank bullets and then recover to full fighting capabilities in a matter of seconds.

Also, pretty much every strategy in COD is based on the assumption that if a player dies, the magic X button will cause them to re-appear somewhere nearby.

Well, the real soldiers can probably maneuver better than the CoD ones can, capable of the full range of human skills and abilities, and motivated by a desire to protect the people they love rather than sets of 1s and 0s.

Gotta give it to the real guys.

Assuming its even teams, both have the same weapons, and that the COD soldiers act like someone who is at the top tier of playing the game then I would imagine the COD soldier would win.

-If its just the average COD player then the real soldiers win because there would be no cooperation and the robots would just be picked off as they run around like chickens with their heads cut off

-If the weapons are not equal (as would be the case if COD team had COD weapons and RL team hand RL weapons) then the side with superior firepower (RL team) is more likely to win

- Uneven teams would likely mean the team with less members loses
