So I was hanging out with a few friends while drinking beer and discussing movies. An interesting question came up that led to about a 2 hour debate. If Gerard Butler from 300, Brad Pitt from Troy, Russel Crow from Gladiator and Mel Gibson from Braveheart were in a fight who would win? Needless to say, we couldn't come close to agreeing on an answer. So, I leave it to you fellow Escapist's....who would win?

I'd pick Brad Pitt as Achilies. Mainly because he is fabled to be invincible and I just loved the fight choreography in Troy best.

Mel Gibson would fail epicly. I'm just saying.

I would bet on Russel Crowe, as this would be one on one combat, and he's a gladiator.

Wait, I haven't seen the movie, but Achilles was invulnerable to any attacks not to his ankle, right? So I think he would win.

Based on the movies I went for Russell Crowe. He manned the fuck up and fought (and won) even after being injured.

On another note I'm pretty sure all the characters died at the end of their respective films, so maybe no one would win.

Achilles cannot be defeated unless he is struck in the heel. Unless the other three knew of this before the fight it would be easy to assume Achilles would win. I'm still rooting for William Wallace though.

Aragorn. What? He's Aragorn and he has as much right to be in this fight as any of the guys up there.

Also, Vs thread is a no no.

Russel crowe, any day. He's a hero, a warrior and a leader. He can do good on his own, and organise all around him to take down chariots.(;))

Why the hell is Brad Pitt there? Achilles is a laughable leader who just got lucky with a bathe in the right river, thanks to his MUM. All that rests is a egomaniac who relies on his indestrucibility.

Also, Serves Wallace right he didnt get that many votes. He organised a scattered force to form 1 front. Alone he's brave, but not in the same league as, say Spartacus or Gladiator.

As to Leonidas, he's all right, but not the best. Again, a brave warrior, but relies on his men. Not the worst fighter though, in this list at least.

WARNING: top secret plan

made by: leonidas

haha! first i invite all the others in the poll to a stone, scissor, paper contest. then i say "let's go to my death pit where i kick down people i hate. then i make them line up and say "stone, scissor, THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" and i kick them all down. and i can see no other possible outcome.

but seriously, achilles got his coward heel thing that makes him nearly invincible, while the others are mortal in the fair way. but i don't really think "Maximus Decimus Meridius" would win over "Leonidas push persians over cliff shields against a million gazillion arrows".

William Wallace is awesome, but he'd get slaughtered by any of those other guys. Likewise, Leonidas is awesome, but his skills are more focused towards killing infinite numbers of mooks, rather than one-on-one combat.

That leaves us with Achilles and Maximus. Maximus would absolutely take Achilles apart, no question. He's like an ancient Roman Batman. It doesn't matter how small your weak spot is, he's gonna exploit it.

Have you not seen Russell Crow's Show? Fighting around the world?

But the odd thing is, all the people you have listed died in the movie.

None, 'cause they'd all team up and beat on you for making a versus thread.

Achilles...did you see that move where he ran, jumped in the air, and stabbed the guy in the neck? So. Awesome. Plus, he's invulnerable except for his heels: definite advantage there.
Also did you two even see that movie? Achilles was just an ordinary mortal man, no invulnerability. People believed he was invulnerable because he was so skilled in battle that nearly no one could touch him. The whole Achilles heel thing came about because yes he was killed by an arrow through the heel, but that was because
he'd let his guard down because of a woman.

I understand that VS threads are frowned upon, but there is an exception to every rule and I feel as though there will be some interesting comments on this topic. If you disagree, I'm fairly certain you will miss everything cool in life and die angry.
