I'd say Bram Stoker. However, although I say that I'm actually using certain elements (the acceptable ones) of Twilight vampires (no sparkling) and elements of Anne Rice vampires and more modern ones (such as the ones in the True Blood series and so on) for my own vampire novel. I prefer the modern vampire ideas that come up so much in popular literature, but Bram Stoker is pretty much the overall king of vampire fiction.

That said, the Hellsing vampires are cool too, which is why I use elements of them in my own fiction as well...
I'm basically the same way. One of my vampire characters has really stupid hair (he can't see his reflection, after all) and is an alcoholic. The other one is a phychotic and kills people for the lulz.
Hah, nice :) One of my vampires is a psychotic crazy guy who wants to bring down an entire clan because he has a long standing rivalry with their leaders, one is a girl who gets bitten near the start and spends the rest of the novel fighting the bloodlust and against her sire (the aforementioned crazy dude) because his plans involve killing her former boyfriend (and she ends up becoming completely insane by the end anyway), and another just happens to be the first crazy guy's old girlfriend (and was sired by him) and ends up fighting him because she's part of the clan he's trying to destroy. There's also a human guy (the second vampire's old boyfriend) who helps her.

Yeah, the story's still in development though, so it might get changed. At this point I reckon it's pretty good though :)

I've got Bram Stoker's novel sitting around right now, haven't even started, but I already know it's better than Twilight.

At the moment I am re reading all The Vampire Chronicles and am once again falling in love with Lestat. Just something about that crazy guy that makes me smile.

I am also reading Twilight at the moment. Yes I peed myself laughing when I watched the movie but I am actually liking the book. I hate the sparkle thing though. Just makes me want to throw up. But the rest seems ok. I doubt I will read any of her other books (I think having one book is enough) but it is interesting.

Sorry, don't know any of those authors. (Well, except Meyer)

My vote goes to who ever wrote the classic Dracula.
The same goes for me. It might have been nice to list who wrote what in the original post. I don't feel like looking them all up. I loved the vampires portrayed in 30 Days of Night. Not just the way they look but also the way they move, their features, their community, their intelligence, ...
